Need some advice on tires please...

Ok so here is some basic info on my car:
I have a 2001 Saleen with the upgraded wheels ( 18 by 9 front and 18 by 10 rear). i put 10k miles in 2 years on this car, so not much, no comuting, all spirited driving. i go on the windy back rodes and say the freeway, and in town ill do some drags. i have never been to the track do do drags there so i dont want DR's. if i do go to the track i want it to be for a track day and do the road course. So with that in mind what tires do you think would be good?

I was eather thinking something like the BFGoodrich G-force TA KD's, the dry weather ones. Or i was even thinking about going all out and getting R compund tires like the Nitto 555R 2, those are the autocross/roadcourse ones. Oh yes i also never drive the car in the rain so Dry tires are perfect, i want the bet handling tire i dont need wet tires.

My other question is can i fit 285's on a 9" wheel? thats the front. And also can i fit say a 305 or 315 on a 10" rear wheel? the Nittos only come in 285 and 305 so those would have to fit if i got them.

friend of mine road races with the nitto 555's, says theyre decent...as far as sizes go, i have 275's on an 8 inch weld and they fit just fine so i dont see why you coulnd't fit the 280 on a 9...I also know a 325 fit's on a 10 inch weld...so you should be good with your 305's or whatever you wanted to run.

u can fit 335/30's on the 10" rear i saw it on a 99 saleen a few weeks ago. so u should have no problems fitting 305's on there.
as far as tires u might want to look into the new pirelli pzero corsas.

285's will fit a 9 fine but it doesn't seem like a good idea on the front. I had BFG KDW 285's on 9 rears and the bulge a bit. 265 or 275 on an 18x9 is plenty wide for the front.

Should have no problem. I've seen 315 fitted on 18" x 9" wheels. I'm currently riding on BFG DR 295/35/18 on 9" Roush wheels.

The only reason i asked is cause if in fact i do get the Nitto's they only have 285's from what ive seen. I am currently running 265 in front and 295 in back, there Bridstone SO-2's and there about gone. hence why im asking these questions.

Now will R compounds really have a big increase in traction..say compared to the BFG KD's

just bought pilot sports. 275/35/18 for the 9x18 front and 295/35/18 for the 10x18 rears. 285 is too big for the fronts from what i have researched. max is 275 for a small amount of rubbing so i have read. after the 295 rear size going bigger is hard because of what is out there to buy and potential rubbing with quad shocks and issues with lowerd cars, if you have that. nitto sells a 305/35/18 but because they run small they will be like 295's. seemed like the treadlife on all of them will be about 15-20k (maybe) except for the pilots where some have gotten 25k on them. will they be worth the extra cost? i'll let you know in a year and a half...... the tire rack had the best selection of the larger 18" tires too fyi.

maybe ill just go with the BFG G-torce Ta KD's the dry ones, they seem like a good idea, they have my same size and are like a street compount. I would get the nitto 55rR2's if they had a the right sizes, it will just make it easier to get the same size tires.
