Different TPS voltage leves KOEO/KOER

some cars do see different values. you dont mention how you measured it (using the TPS ground on your meter or running the meter's ground to the motor, etc).

how much is yours off?
 
With trhe car off, it's using battery voltage (roughly 12v). When it's running your alternator is charging the battery and bumps the voltage to around 14.3v. The computer is programmed with a "voltage offset" feature to compansate for these changes. Obviously it will read a little higher when the engine is running because your just putting more voltage to it.

Huh, I would expect that to be a regulated voltage since it is "mission critical" as it were. I was only using the harness of the sensor, so it should be preatty accurate.

It was a long time ago that i noticed that so, I am not concerned. I was just thinking (tinkering) about my rough idle and thought maybe they were related. I checked it again and reset it, so it should be fine now. I was just curious. It had no effect, so I am afraid it is more of a head gasket issue...I've been loosing coolant a lil quicker than usual. :D
 
hmmm, Chris knows more than I (not hard to do). as he said, i thought the purpose of the VRef (5 volts) was to take any real-world fluctuation out of the system.

i could not see how VRef would change but i am not as savvy with the tuning stuff as he. :)

That is what I mean, I figured the the engineers chose 5V since it is easy to regulate battery/alternator voltages to. :shrug:

Eh, now worth worying over now anyways.
