I have a 1997 Cobra with 4.10 rear, lt hooker headers, hooker o/r x pipe, flowmaster exhaust and K&N air filter. I would like to get my car NATURALLY ASPIRATED to run mid 11's to high 10's. Please give me suggestions on the most reasonable ways to do this. Also please include pricing of parts you recommend. Thanks a lot.

it's very possible. i believe it was Bob Cosby who had his N/A Cobra running 11's. he drove it daily too.

Correct, with the stock 25-26mpg too :nice:

You'll need:
- 4.10+ gears (4.30s would be best for a cobra, but i know it would be stupid to change sice u have 4.10s)
- subframe connectors
- Ported intake/manifold and heads
- (possibly) some kind of CAI
- full exhaust w/ longtube headers preferably (making more hp)
- CAMS will help a LOT
- and weight reduction like whoa
* take out the rear seat, empty the trunk of everything even the carpet
* maybe take out drivers seat and use the passengers seat (because the drivers seat has a heavy power motor) Or you could get aftermarket racing seats which will save weight
* Maybe do a battery relocation to the trunk
* maybe a light-weight fiberglass hood or c/f.

- and get some BFG G-Force TA/KD drag radials :nice:

And i think you could hit 11s in a cobra N/A.

some serious weight loss matched w/some new cams and a complete P/P job on the intake and heads. Couple that w/a stip tire/rear end/suspenison set up and you might be there. But, it might be cheaper to look into NOS

well, technically nitrous is not forced induction, its still naturally aspirated.. . sort of. . .

well now I am curious what happened that now you feel your cobra needs to run 11s? i mean 11s are pretty serious. most people dont run those without sacrificing driveability, you know?

so is there like a new girl at school whos got a boyfriend who runs 12s?

Yes the car is N/A while street driving still, but since he wants to run 11s and will be racing it using NOS to achieve this, thats a power adder and in my book no longer N/A. But i know what you meant.

What better a reason to make your car do 11s (and justify dumping money into mods to achieve this)??? :D

I would say with your mods and these mods below you could see a low 11 high 10's easily.

Drag Springs -$150-$200
Lakewood 90/10 Struts $100
Airbag @ 5psi in the RR spring-$ ???
Full Length Subframe Connectors $-??? According who you go with I suggest UPR or Steeda
No front swaybar
Steeda Lower Control Arm
And a 100 wet shot of nitrious express with the genx2 upgrade. 100 shot is very safe is used right. Use a WOT switch and a MSD window switch set right and it will be safe as much as you wanna run it. ( $1100-$1200) WOT switch with the window switch work together to be a good set up. WOT switch only activates the nitrious when the throttle is to he floor. Window switch can be set to a certain RPM to activate the nitrious. Say for example 3500 rpm and boom its going. That along with the WOT switch is a good combo

If you want 10's I say 31 Spline Mosers and MT E/T 's on a lightweight weld racing or bogart 15" wheels and tires and good driving :nice: guaranteed

what a bunch of ****ing retards.

there are a few guys that have rn 11's on a 96-97 cobra NA. Its a pretty easy combo

4:56 gears(i would go spool), full exhaust, cai, pullies, susp, short runner intake, 26inch slicks.

JimSVT has gone mid to low 11's with a 96-98 cobra @120 mph with a stock longblock car and alot of weight reduction . Actually, i am going 96-98 4v for my strip car since i sold my vert.

My overall advice is to ignore every post in this thread above mine.

Is my 1st post not the same exact thing that you just said, only more detailed...???

Not enough gear
- subframe connectors
- Ported intake/manifold and heads

not needed, short runner intake will help tremendously however, stock heads are fine
- (possibly) some kind of CAI
- full exhaust w/ longtube headers preferably (making more hp)
about all we really agree on besides weight reduction
- CAMS will help a LOT
yeah dpends on if you want to drop 1k on buumpsticks when you dont need them

this stuff is all a given, like i said one of the other things I agreed on
- and get some BFG G-Force TA/KD drag radials :nice:
Get real, slicks or mt et street drags
And i think you could hit 11s in a cobra N/A.
after a tune and some good driving it should be easy in the right weather

Well I was trying to keep the car streetable, not an all out 11 second drag car. Like 4.56 gears might be a bit high for everyday road use, as well as spending the extra money on slicks. Although he did say he wanted 11s, not necessarily a streat car that can do 11s so i guess you'd be more correct.
