4.10s too much for s/c car

i was wondering if anyone knew if 4.10s would be too much gear for my car, i currently have 3.27s with the stock tremec3650 and when i went to the track i ran 12.6@110 and was afraid if i get 4.10s i would run out of gear in 4th? Also, with 4.10s what would be my new top speed in 4th?

If you are concerned about running out of gear, it will be close. 112 is about where I top out 4th.

if you get cams and valve springs, you can raise your redline, increasing the top speed in 4th gear. then you can have your 4.10's and still trap higher. mwahahahaha! {evil laugh}

i would like to get the vt stage 2 blower cams but then i would need new springs and alot of money....i think im just gonna stick to gears for now

I have 4.10's, Novi 2000, and auto tranny. I trap at 135 mph and 6700 rpm in 3rd gear with 28 inch slicks. You can use this calculator to see where you will be.

all you have too do is use a taller tire.. you can tune your effective ratio this way.. by using a taller (to act like a lower numericaly gear) or shorter (the opposite) you can tune your gearing so you go thru the traps just above peak power..

My friend just went from 4.10s to 3.73 and he said it seems like the car stays in teh power band longer in each gear and pulls longer instead of just reving super fast

I by no means have a fast car but am running out of gear at the top of 4th and was concerned having a blower I'd need to shift into 5th.

Taller tires is the answer, but I'm not sure how feasible that is for my setup and bolting some of those on or off. I like pulling up to the track exactly how I run on the street.

I plan on getting 3.55 gearing ... bummer about having to pay for another gear install.

for him i would do nothing higher than 3.90s and that is a little high.

I have 4.10's in my supercharged car and have never looked back. It really helps the car get up and go with the loss of low end power from the addition of cams.

i don't know why nobody will listen too me on this. you can use a shorter ratio like a 4.10 just use a taller tire if you are running out of gear at the end of the 1/4 you can tune your car this way with a gear calculator and have it so you go thru the traps right at the top of 4th

use the shorter gears (4.10's) then adjust tire size and or raise rev limiter as needed.

why the hell would you go backwards like going from 4.10's to 3.55 or somthing like that.
