Originally we were told that 06 production starts next week, Aug, 8.

Latest info is that 05 production ended last week on July 28 and 06 production starts later this week on Aug 3 or 4.

But I have not been able to verify all this.

This link is to the Ford site showing the weekly production numbers. They mention that the Mustang plant is going to be working overtime. The also tell which one's shut down to adjust inventories for the next production year and the Mustang is not scheduled to be shut down this week *1st week of august*. So, maybe since they are going to be producing the same car with a couple pasted on specialties for the V6, they dont need to "adjust" their inventories.

Lethaljay, thanks for the link. I'm trying to find out as much info on the start up of the '06 Mustang production. My dealer seems clueless.

Vacation shut down at AAI already occured a couple weeks ago. AAI is NOT shut down this week, nor is it likely to be shut down until July 2006 unless y'all stop buying Mustangs.

Help Line

This is the number to call to obtain “up to the moment” new vehicle information. The number is 1-800-392-3673. Listed below is what I was informed of by the customer service representative.

1. Last '05 manufactured on 26 July.

2. Changeover occurs on 3 August.

3. First '06s built on 5 August.

Sidebar: She said that similarly equipped ‘06 styled vehicles (same options, colors) would be built first, before ones with fewer similarities.

Im so impatient, i guess ill just have to take it when it comes. Well that and pray.

I'm waiting for my v6 bub, according to robot lady i'm to be built the week of August 8th. maybe that has been pushed back?

One simple explanation. Commodity controls. Only about 40% of all Mustang productions will be GTs, and of those only 55% will be manuals. There's alot of different materials that there simply aren't enough of. Want the new 18" wheels, good luck. :(

According to an AAI employee:

'05 ends: 1st shift, August 5th.
'06 Begins: 2nd shift, August 5th

Yes, '05's and '06's built on the same day. Weird, huh?

It was posted over at The Mustang Source. I'll see if I can find the thread.
