Lowering a gt

  • Sponsors (?)

i'm using the sportlines with the stock cobra shocks and struts, it's temp but there's been no change in pressure in the shocks/strutsand they still hold strong for 4 months, they should be good for about a year at most

[svt 96-98 shocks/struts have different vaving inside but it's not really a big improvement]

you can hold off but you should get a bumpsteer kit to correct the drop once you get the $ for them

I have an 02 with sportlines. Have had them for about 6months now, stock struts and shocks went out at about 4months and started bouncing really bad in the back. I just received my new tokiko hp's yesterday. My caster camber plates will also be going in, I now have a bent strut and alignment is now shot. Offset rack and pinion bushings went in at time of spring installation I highly recommend you do the same. Here's a recent pic.

I have no clue. I got the car with 20k miles could have been previous owner or me for all I know. It was already bent at the time of the alignment though. Dont get worried though the springs were not the cause of the bending of the strut.

Yea I got it lowered without the cc plates because the alingment was as close as it was going to get due to the bent strut. In the 6 months Ive had it my front tires have feathered a bit, driver side on the inside of tire and passenger side on the outside of the tire. I have a friend that works at the ford dealership and he assures me its because of the bent strut. If you get them installed without the cc plates you'll start seeing wear in your tires in about a month

Best to get everything done at one time so you don't have to pay multiple charges for labor assuming you're getting it professionally installed.

For example, I went to Chicane Sport Tuning and they charge 3 hours of labor @ $70/hour for spring install. If I get the shocks and struts done at that same time with the springs, it's still 3 hours of labor, hence it's $210.

Let's say I got my H&R Super Sports and left my stock struts/shocks in. They'll probably last about 4 months with the extreme lowering H&R Super Sports give. Then I have to go back and get new shocks and struts installed for another 3 hours of labor @ $70/hour.

Better do it right the first time and be done with it. I got my springs, shocks/struts, caster/camber plates and alignment done all in the same day and have no trouble with my suspension/alignment at all.
