Hey guys,

I just unloaded my last 5.0 . I was actually sorry to see it go. It sort of sold by accident. Anyway, to fill the hole in my heart I picked up a clean, stout 96 Cobra. This is my first 32V mustang. It has a t56 6 speed and a few other things too. The motor is mostly stock so I went ahead and picked up an S trim vortech kit. I also have 42lb injectors and a power pipe coming too. Vortech claims that a stock Cobra will make well over 400rwhp with their kit alone. Is there any truth to this? How fast can I expect the car to be? The only mod motored pony I ever had was an automatic convertible and that thing was a pooch. I don't know anything about mod motored cars. I have a lightning and that seems to be in a world of its own. Anybody have anything good/bad to say about a stock cobra with an S trim (12psi)?

96 cobra with a t-56? i didnt know they had 6 speeds. maybe it is just me but mine was a 5 spd. i think it is possible to throw down close to 400hp on those motors. i wish i still had mine but its ok. ill get another one

The T56 is was bought as a kit. It costs about $4000. It comes with the tranny, a pro 5.0 shifter, aluminum shaft, 11" clutch and flywheel. I have the same problem with my Lightning, they will both need forged bottom ends. I think the Cobra should be safe with 400 or so hp. I am looking for low 12's on drag radials. I should probably manage that. How much gear can I get away with the 6spd? Those motors turn a lot of R's and it's probably not the best thing for the blower- spinning that hard all the time.

If that's the case I'll leave the 3.55's in. I heard that the 32V motors needed a little extra gear. I guess it wont be so bad cruising 80mph at 1200-1300 rpm. The final gear ratio in 6th is .62:1.

If you want to go fast gear is allways your friend it won't be bad at all with 4.10's since you have that nice 6 gear. Now with the charger it will be more friendly on the street with stock or a 3.55.

with most t-56s you will want a 4.10 most likely since the 1st gear is probably going to be weak.....should be about the same thing as a 3.73 t-45 equipped car.

try to find out more about the trans

this is of course for a street car....i would want more gear myself since i would definitely have traction....
