Are you guys hitting the rev limiter in 4th gear before the end of the 1/4 at the track? I am leaning towards 3.90's just because i will end up being supercharged some time in the future. I wanted to know if you run out with 4.10's because that for sure will be my deciding factor to go with 3.90's if you do. I dont want to have to let off or hit the rev limiter to cross the 1/4.

if you stay N/A get 4:10s no question....they are the PERFECT gear for a GT and like mentioned above if you get more power out of the car just get a taller tire....dont waste your money on 3:90s or 3:73s

what is stock for a 97 gt i think its either 2.73 or 3.01
i might just be blowing smoke in your a$$ but its not much
so i think to solve your problem heres what you need to do
keep the 4.10's and then when you get the supercharger just give it to me because i have plenty of gear:D

the max for 4.10's are around 108/111 MPH

with the stock height tires that is correct but who says you have to run the stock tire height... if you go to a taller tire then the max for 4.10's is higher.

ok here it is off a gear calculator

with 4.10's at 6000 rpm in 4th gear your at 111.806 mph. thats with the stock 245/45r17 tires. the diameter of the stock 245/45r17's is 25.681 inches.

ok now if you went with a taller tire like a 275/45r17 with a diameter of 26.744 now at 6000 rpm's in forth gear your at 116.434 mph..

Now if your running a car that traps that high I am going to bet your going to run a 15 inch wheel at the track, if you don't you will most likely spin the tires and get laughed at.

with a 275/60r15 ET drag radials with a diameter of 27.992 you will top out 4th gear at 121.868

as you can see you can tune your gearing by changing the diameter of your tires.

4.10s are the perfect gear NA with all the bolt ons.

Once you get a blower or nitrous, you'll have to step down to 3.73.

The only thing I didn't like about 4.10s (and the 5 speed tranny) was having to stop racing anywhere after 110mph. 5th bogged so much .... not that I need to go faster then that but ....
