if you only have one cable coming through the floor they are wrong. mine is an 01 but there is only one and there is a part number for it as I had to replace it. one tip once you find it is make sure know how to use the tentioner in the ebrake handle. you rotate if forward and hold it in place with a pin. I did not relize this at first and could not figure out why I could not get the ebrake cables pulled back into place. once you uncoil the tentioner so to speak you can do it ease.

talk to randy or call a different parts department that actually knows wtf they are talking about. sometimes I hate parts departments. they act like you are stupid and they are the ones that don't know thier a$s from a hole in the ground.

That's why I can't stand my local Ford stealership. They have "over 100 years combined experience" at sucking. They should try looking up parts for Italian/German/ British cars sometime. I couldn't tell you how many times I've wanted to jump over the counter and do their job for them :bang:

New question for Randy from an old thread

Quick question for you Randy:
I have a 1996 3.8L mustang with the same problem. You said the part # fits 1994 to 1998 mustangs but I wanted to be sure it would fit mine since it's not a GT.
Also, when I had it checked at the dealership they said the ratchet assembly and cable would need to be replaced. What is considered to be the ratchet assembly? I have not taken it apart to get a better look, but looking at it the only thing that appears to be wrong is the broken cable where it's supposed to be attached at the handle and everything else appears to be intact. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sandra

ok, the ratchet asbly is another name for the parking brake asbly and 1994 to 1998's are all the same for the "2A603" base, Gt and Cobra...do you have access to a fax?

That helped a lot. I have the parts ordered & will be able to fix it on Monday. Thanks so much for all your help!!
It looks like the repair won't be too difficult, do you have any suggestions on anything to watch out for that may give me trouble?
