I watched the one when the did the tfs topend kit and nitrous...1st the numbers on the hci was a little low.. i was thinking atleast 290's.. also they were spraying a 125 shot and the only gained 30hp.. can u explain that to me.. something didnt seem right?

Because they install a tfs top end kit and nitrous in 30 minutes! why else! :D

But yea i agree theres something wrong there, maybe a tune?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it today. 50hp shot gave them like 30rwhp, 75 (or whatever was next) gave them like 34rwhp, and 125 gave them 38rwhp. wtf

just making sure i just got confused

say u have a 100 shot of nitrous. this is SUPPOSED to net you 100 hp right? i assume its a little less once it gets to the wheels and whatnot.

The 100 shot on average wont give you 100 hp at the wheels, but when you look at it in terms of flywheel power it is a little closer (remember 15% loss also applys to the nitrous). Not to mention they talk about torque there and nitrous is insane for making torque. I wouldnt be surprised if the 375 rwhp car made 450 rwtq or more.

I will say if it made 275 all motor its a little low, but it depends on the dyno, how they calculated it etc... Plus they are known to get less than stellar numbers, like with MT and C&D when it comes to timeslips!

the numbers look OK for a quick tune...there could be more but we don't know the A.F and or the true condition of the old mill they threw the parts on. The nitrous will usually net you less than the indicated shot so I think the numbers were OK...I didn't like the look of the smoke out the tails at the end of the pull though..not a all :)

thanks everyone...

thanks for helping me with this...its basically exactly what i was looking into too.. and i was worried about the 35rwhp with a 125shot lol.. anyway thanks everyone.. and is there a better nitrous setup to go on that is a bolt on? (meaning anything besides direct port)
.

i was a little disappointed myself. thought the HCI would put those #s a little higher. wasnt it like 276? but like some of the other guys said, a tune would surely help. think it would be safe to say they could get 290 out of it with a tune?

i kinda lost interest when they sprayed it but since they did, wouldnt 24# injectors be better than the stock 19s they kept? and they didnt replace the fuel filter.....it takes like 5 min to do that!:bang:

That dyno always seems to be a little low. I thought they only gained 38 rwhp on the 125 shot too but saw another episode of a different show that was backhalving that car for them where they said it made 375 rwhp. So I guess it was the gain each time over the previous numbers, pretty gay how they made it sound though.

Well, one of the main reasons for the low numbers can be atributed to the gears. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I know they were pretty radical. On a chassis dyno, you don't get a good read on massively geared cars. Measured at the crank, the numbers would be a helluva lot higher.
