Hey all, I did a little searching and was not able to find the answer that I was looking for. Are there tranny coolers that are made for t-5's. If not, why not. And would it be worth it if adding a t-5 tranny cooler could be custom added?

Thanks

How would you pump the fluid into the cooler?

A manual gearbox doesnt stress ATF, so I'm not sure why one would want to use such a thing on an otherwise stock T5.

Just MHO.

Good luck.

I honestly didn't know. I have never driven an automatic. Never owned one either. All I know is that everyone that I know who owns an auto refers to such a thing here and again. I just fugured there might be a version for the t-5. Guess not. Thanks though Hissin.

Yep, the autos crank out a ton of heat, so the coolers are nice.

On a stick, since there's no pumping, pressure or viscous coupling, there's not as much heat.

Now I will say that for sick set-ups, there are manual trans coolers (very much like differential coolers). They use a small elec pump. That's why in my first post I said it was not necessary for an otherwise stock T5. I just dont see how such an animal would help a stockish application.

Well, I'm building my stang with a road course focus. I'm a little short on funds, but I'm doing my best to get it all worked out in my head so when the time is right, i know exactly what I want/have to do. I want it to be cooler than a fan and as light as a feather.

So with an external pump and some fittings, it may be possible. Of course, now I'm wondering whether it may be worth it if the temp difference between the auto and t-5 are signifigantly different.
