Right now I have the stock catted X with my Borla catback on my 02. I am wanting to switch it out for a o/r X with the Borla stingers. Will I see a dramatic change in sound? I am wanting to get a lot more sound out of the car. I have listened to several clips on here but just wanted to know opinions. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. I am gonna start out with just a o/r X and keep the Borlas that are on the car. Does anyone know the difference in the Stinger catback and the Borlas that came on my '02?

Not to sound like a broken record but you idea of starting with just the mid is a great idea.

In my opinion the Borla's sound better than the magnaflows. To be honest Saleen never would have changed from Borla to Magna if they could have just paid their muffler bills.

You will hear a signifigant difference in the sound from changing out the stock mid with a two cat stainless Bassani x pipe. Absolutely worth the money. Keep the Borla's and see how you like the sound. You can always cut out the cats and keep them (they are worth money) if it's not loud enough. Honestly, the high flow performance cats these days do not hinder performance.

If you just want loud go with one of those off road x pipes with no cats with mandrel bends in them. You cna oick up one of those out of a magazine for 50 bucks.

I kept the stock cat back for my 02. But did change out the mid to a bassani off road x pipe and coupled with bassani mid lenght headers. It sounds louder than stock and very good imho, but when you go WOT, its sounds freaking amazing. Like a nascar. I love the sound and would never change it.

I had Joe at Chicane Sport Tuning throw a Bassani X-Pipe on my 2000 on Thursday and it wouldn't fit in properly due to my car having the automatic transmission so he removed the cats, and made it work! Not what I really wanted but I figured I'd try it out and see what I thought and drive the car home etc...!!! All I can say is that I personally can't stand it, an off road X-Pipe with Borla's at WOT is really Raspy Sounding like an Import Car and throughout the RPM range the cars sound lost its deep tone!!!:notnice: I'll be having him remove it as soon as I get a chance to head back up there and have him put it back to stock!!!! I may have gained some HP in the higher RPMs, but It seems like I lost alot of Torque in the lower end! Infact, I'm not sure if my computer is having issues with the Off road pipe or what but my car really seems like it lost some power!!!

.....+1
No need to run without cats. There is zero difference, performance wise, between straight pipes or the high flow cats. Honestly, you'll lose some torque without the cats. Remember, louder isn't always better. Going with the mid-length heads, catted maga or bassani x and the borla catback, you won't be disappointed. Plus, if your one of the lucky folks that lives in a heavily tested smog state, like CA, you don't have to worry about being ticketed or impounded for running an illegal exhaust system.....
