WoW thanks for the new name and bash:nonono: Im just tryn to say what I read. I dident notice you two even trying to give any real or read(published) facts! I know mags boost or boast numbers, but the numbers were negative hp untill over a certian rpm, in my eyes a nonusefull rpm " much like your reply to me. Maybe they do make 10-15hp at 6,200-6,600 rpm , my 2000 gt will NOT rev that high , and I dont think yours will eather! Ironhorse good luck!!

You must be new to these 4.6 engines, search for guys running 12's N/A with not much more than tubular K member, full exhaust and gears.

I guess Ill do some looking through my 3 foot tall stack of mustang mags for some "hard evidence" . I bought(ordered) my 2000 gt new in late 1999 , been modding ever sence , no Lt's tho! As it turns out ford accualy made a fairly good manifold for the 1999-2004 4.6, good enuf that Lt's are over kill untill you put boost on the eng!! I compleatly understand Lt's were great hp for the older 5.0"s and other older aplications , but the new 99+stock manifold is a good piece untill you get into the realy high Hp. Then Lt's are needed in making more HP. As for people bashing the mag's how can we compare products , well for those of us that arnt millionairs that can put thousands of dollars to get 2 HP?

wow,

Longtubes alone don't add much power in the low end, it's mainly all top end power and torque but as winters said they are usually good for a tenth. Combined with an offroad or high flowing mid pipe and you are looking at a nice increase across the powerband.

As to the comments that a GT peaks at 5200 and no reason to rev that high...you sir need to educate yourself before speaking. Reaching your peak and shifting is about the dumbest thing that I see people do. Have you ever looked at a dyno sheet and looked at the power curve? The way to a faster ET/MPH you want the highest possible average HP through a range. By shifting at peak your RPM's drop too low in the band and you hurt your average HP.

See excel sheet here.

Shift Point Calculator - Modular Revolution Forums

General rule for shift points is you want to shift 10% higher than your peak power to give you the best average. So a stock GT that peaks at 5200 would want to shift right about 5800 RPM. As the car is modded the powerband changes and that peak moves higher. My 2000 GT after cams had a peak just over 6k and I had to shift at 6800 to see the gains at the track.

Im not too sure exactly what the LT's added, but when my car had a C&L 85mm maf, MRT catted H pipe, & bassani catback it dyno'ed 275rwhp & 294rwtq untuned. On the same day, with the addition of a crappy SCT mail order tune, it dyno'ed 289rwhp & 311rwtq. Both of those pulls were on a dyno jet.

Once I added Mac LT's, Mac o/r H, Roy's 3/8" intake spacer, & an SCT dyno tune, it dyno'ed 315rwhp & 327rwtq. The dyno was a dyno dynamics that supposedly reads lower than a dyno jet so it could possibly be a little higher? Thats a difference of 26rwhp & 18rwtq with just LT's, no cats, & an intake spacer.

When i first installed the LT's, I felt a power difference immediately throughout the powerband & honestly I felt a huge difference on the low end similar to adding gears to a stang....

i found an article where a 01 gt lost 10 hp with shorties. I know i know those were shorties. im still looking for the article on the lt's. the shorties did gain , 7 hp at 5,600 rpm, but it lost (imho) a whopping 10 hp at 3,600 rpm!

most people here could care less about articles. We don't put any stock in them. They are worthless. That's what everybody was trying to tell you.

i have the exact same setup. the setup sounds amazing! the only downfall with the weld in super 40's is, you have all that flow till it goes into the 2 1/4" piping from the rear of the mufflers the whole way out the back. i'm not an expert so i couldn't tell you if that's really effecting the power seeing how much more backpressure there would be from 2 1/4" to 2 1/2". regardless of how much hp it makes, you should feel a noticeable difference over stock. i did it peice by peice. the long tubes make it sound sooooo good. however, they are a bitch to install. and if you ever plan to do cams, you have to unbolt them from the heads if you plan pulling the heads. you have to take the starter off, loosen the motor mounds and jack it up and hope you have little hands! if you don't do it, be prepared for the labor bill. they're obviously worth it though after your first wot 1-2 shift :D
