Right as im about to buy a nitrous kit and accessories they started laying off people again today, now im afraid to spend any money, i work in the construction side of business and a year ago our company had about 85 and now after today we are down around 12 people, i even just went to PSR yesterday to check out there shop and get a quote for tuning my nitrous, well i guess i should rethink buying anything right now. anyone else alittle pissed about the lay offs?

sorry just venting, was ready for the freaking 125 shot damn it:mad:

Yeah, these days, i am a little more conservative with my money, and right now, with this economic diaster, it would not be a bad idea to to clear all credit card debts (if possible) , and just start putting away some money for a raining day,

ive been there, a month after i bought my 03 gt (last feb) i got laid off, but good thing i was able to get a job the following week doing security through the public administration. and i had a lil money saved up, but boy, i was sweatin like no other. good luck with your job man. wish you the best.

The rumors are what is demoralizing. You can't really give it your all when any day you are expecting to get axed.

We've had the rumors float around my workplace too, but just the other day my engineering team had a meeting with our boss discussing hiring two more engineers to help.

So for the time being, i guess i can breathe easy...but who knows what the next few months will bring. It's scary when every headline you read talks about unemployment rising, homelessness, panic, 401K's dropping, etc etc etc.

All you can do is just wake up and go to work while you still have a job. If youthink you are due a lay-off...start looking around for a new job in something more secure. Also get rid of your debt while you can. I was trying to sell my Mustang for a new daily driver...but i'd rather keep a paid off vehicle that is relativly easy to maintain than get myself in debt

Unfortunately, this sort of pulling back just makes the problem worse. We really need consumer confidence to come back...but that will only happen when this mess bottoms out and things start to turn around

<----just got laid off 2 weeks ago. right after i bought and installed my rear end parts, by the way ill be posting pics of that soon. I showed up to work one morning and bam! no warning i was just told to get my tool box and head out.

i would recommend saving your money until you have juuuust a little bit more in the bank so that you can really afford your nitrous kit.

ya i figured id go ahead and finish the work. working on the car seems to help calm the nerves. now, whenever i need a break, i go for a drive :D.

thank god my dad is still around to help out because my ex took me to the cleaners in my divorce (even though it was her fault). i take care of the house, his cars, my grandparents and his rental house and i live rent free with him, so its a nice help. thankfully, all i have is my car payment, cell phone, and car insurance, but it still sucks when i dont even have the gas money to go look for a job.

i have been out of the army for a year and still struggling for a steady job. jobs here in orlando suck and it seems no one wants to pay anyone with a college degree and time in the army. soooo, its back in the army for me, i cant say that i dont miss it. lol.

So far I'm one of the lucky ones. My company has been around for 20 years and never had a layoff and so far no rumors of one coming. They work hard at drumming up new business and are diversified, but unfortunately we are in the auto industry so with sluggish car sales and dwindling credit I'm sure that eventually it will affect us.

Personally I think allot of it has to do with the election. As I recall since at least the 1992 election the economy always seems to go down a bit during the elction year, its just accelerated this year due to things like the banking industry coming to a head.

I started working on paying off stuff several years ago but really got down to business in the past year when I learned about Dave Ramsey and his program. I'm happy to say that the only debt I have is the mortgage and the car. Should have the car paid off in the next year though.

Suffice it to say the wife and I got woken up on finances several years ago and learned some hard lessons. We still aren't where we should be but we have made giant leaps in becoming more financially aware of our own expenses.

Yeah me to. I work for Honda and we are doing 6 days a week. Civic CRV and Accord is my line. I paint most of the interior parts and it is just insane:nonono:

Ah yes, we supply parts to you. We make the Civic alternator, probably our largest single volume model. I've actually been to one of your warehouses to sort some alternators a few years ago.

Due to sluggish sales some of our modles went down this month so no working this weekend, which is good since my youngest daughter has a soccer tourny.

I just went through the same thing man. Trust me, I know it's a freakin' scary time. I have been at the same job for almost 10yrs but didn't make it out of the last wave of cuts. I was afraid to spend ANY extra money for a while but I got lucky and start a new job on Nov 1st. Ironically it's doing almost the same thing for more money...I got lucky but it just goes to show sometimes change is for the better! Good luck dude!
