Man that SUCKS...

Looks like a new quarter, new wheel and new paint for the whole car... Once it is repaired you will *almost* be happy it happened... your car will look amazing after...

got Fresno PD out there,CHP showed up as well.
the motorcycle guy is a funeral escort.he was sitting at the stop waiting for his turn to go.
he told the police it was pertty much the other guys fault.

i called both ins companies yesterday.
taking the car in for an estimate right now.

got the estimate.came up to $2553.00.

next, took it to Travelers.best in town
they found more damage than the other shop.
bent axle shaft,bent quad shock.
housing was fine.

their estimate came out to around $3500-$3600.

Hard to believe the axle is bent and the housing is not.

If they end up totaling it out, liet me know. I am looking for a project.

Bro, accidents happen.......can't avoid them all....could have been worse....and as said above, once it is done and over.....you "may" be ok with it happening......

Go with the highest estimate they will accept......purchase a new used rear end...maybe with gears already installed....:D and you should find a deal on someone painting the entire car........you can always shop around since you are still able to drive it............

could have been a few feet to the front and higher speed............

I think you can roll with it , and good luck...:nice:

i hear you.

heard from ins.they accepted 100 % fault.

they will pay directly to me,not the shop. im open to all advice, never went through an accident where the car was repaired.

now a question.

with the money being paid to me,do i HAVE to pay that body shop to perform the axle shaft replacement and quad shock?

or can i do it myself?

i know these sound like dumb questions, but i'm not to sure of the rules on what i can do with the settelment money.

do i have to go to the shop that wrote the estimate?

do the parts have to come from their source?

do i even have to get the car repaired?(car will be fixed,i'm just asking questions :))

thank's guys.

I dont think you even really need to get it fixxed if you dont want too... dont know how it works though... so dont take my word for it

If you are simply getting a check for repairs, you'll also get a letter you must sign accepting the money as payment for the damage to your vehicle and it declares the insurance company not liable for any other repair costs. If you choose to bring it to a shop rather than take a check the insurance company may end up paying more if there is hidden damage (such as frame damage).

Now, if you know you can get your Stang repaired for less than the payoff you get, by all means take the check and repair all you wand yourself! Back when my Cobra conversion was still a V6, I got hit and had to fight Allstate to keep them from totaling it. In the meantime, I repaired the car myself. When the finally agreed to pay for the repairs, I took a check from them. Made over a grand on the repair, but all the savings went to paying for a rental car :(

yep thats how i thought it went:nice: some drunk nailed my probe with a door... gave me $400 as per quote to get it fixed. my trans blew 3 days later... i bought a new trans and popped the dent my self

I had a guy hit me on the driver side rear bumper about two years ago it messed up the bumper and it bent the axel 2cm but didnt hurt the housing it bent right at the end of the axel. The guys ins company cut me a check for the repairs I bought a new rear axel with the gears I wanted from summit racing for 875 dollars and bought the bumper for 250 and the rest went into savings. The estimates are kinda high is you get that much and you do it yourself youll have some left over for other mods.
