lincoln mark VIII swap to 2002 GT???

your lucky i have the answer...........

the whole damn car

its not to bad to do your gonna need the drivshaft radiator ,cooling fan and the trans unless your using a 5 spd then your gonna need all the crap from your original motor and the ECM but in all actuality you might only need the motor

but i can tell ya that you might need to cut into the motors factory harness and extend them to fit because the lincolns computer is on the drivers side and thats where the motor harness plugs into
and your mustang is on the passenger side
hope this helps

Ehh.... actually from what i understand theres quite a few things you need to change. Check out my post in the other guys lincoln swap thread. Its definitely not a quick thing i would plan to do if you need the car soon. You could run into some complications. And your going to have to find/order some cobra parts

I dont know what this 1stanger1 guy is talking about. he keeps talking about using the lincoln computer when everybody who has done this uses the stock computer and flashes it..

Plus why would you need the radiator and driveshaft out of the lincoln? those parts wont fit or the transmission?

it's obviously more complex than swapping a 2v for another 2v BUT as far as swaps go this is a easy one.

There is a lot of write ups on the net about this swap and there is not too much you have to change..

some of the changes are you have to eliminate the IMRC's you need to swap to 4v cooling hoses and setup and you will have some issues with a/c tubing and you have to make some changes to the stock harness plus a program.

I dont feel like doing a full write up now but i plan on doing this swap with my mark viii motor I have now sometime this year when I do that I will do a full article with pics

but if you google it you will find some great write ups that are already out there.

Really?! Man i gave up on my MarkVIII swap a long long time ago because all i could find was some cobra swap writeups and a bunch of people telling me it would be next to impossible... very interesting. Anychance you could post up one of those wrie ups?

HEY!!! svt tech before you swap pm me. i am going to experiment with different mark viii intake configurations over the next few years. they are things a decent TIG welder can do. it will require an injector driver for the second set of injectors.

i figure you will use the cobra intake, but before you do, let me try a few things with the mark. you mat want to save the cash on the cobra piece in favor of something a little different for b head 4v, but a direction more promising than a simple cobra intake, which at best is a piss poor intake.

i did the mark viii swap. spent wayyyyy to much money. i basically used the mark motor for the block and heads. and i bought everything else seperately. cobra intake. imrc deletes, frpp cams, frpp crank, forged rods/pistons, etc, etc

edit:

well you had to spend the money with a turbo. so its not wasted on N/A where those things are not needed.

so really your not talking about a swap, you are talking about building a turbo motor, which is different entirely.

besides, with the power level a turbo mark viii forged motor will be at, you would have to buy a block, rods, and crank for a 302.

with proper parts 20+ psi is easily handled by a mark viii block. 700+rwhp.

I actually am in the middle of starting and doing this swap ! Im putting a 1995 mark viii dohc in my 98 gt. SO far all i know of is you need maybe a new intake depending on year, maybe a hood(clearance) and computer IF you want the IMRC's which imo is worth keeping. At low Rpm you will looses torque and hp if i read correctly. When i got the engine it came with a wiring harness and it looks like it will fit the gt no problem. My biggest problem is the throttle body hitting firewall because of the 1995 intake manifold. Also the intake is a bit of a pin if you use the 1995 intake manifold, i think thats where the new hood comes into play. From what i read the motor will bolt up with the gt auto trans.

Correct me if im wrong this is all stuff i read. Im going to be actually starting this swap in couple weeks if not earlier.:canada:

when i actually get the $ to dyno... im hoping for 900ish rwhp.

the swap isnt really that difficult already having a mod motor car. the hydroboost stuff is hard to come by if you have to piece it together.
I know a guy here in cleveland, oh locally that used the mark motor, swapped intakes to cobra, lengthened some wires, (i think) used a cobra computer, then had it tuned by lideo(sp) at livernois.

If you guys want to use a complete Mark VIII engine then you have 2 choices:
1) either use one from a 97-98
or
2) swap the 97-98 intake manifold onto a 93-96 Mark VIII engine.

I have the 98 Mark VIII manifold and the throttle body comes out out on top and looks similar to a 99 Cobra Intake. I've read of people using the 99+ Cobra throttle cable since it is in the same position which is a good thing being the 96-98 Cobra throttle cables are so hard to find.
