H pipe or X pipe

Assuming you are running the stock 302, it doesn't matter. You're not making enough horse power stock. I've heard the X will get you a little more but I don't have conclusive proof. At this stage ditching the cats is whats important.

Some people claim the H has a deeper tone, while the X is higher pitched and "raspy." Honestly they both sound good, just different strokes for different folks. There is some mystery pipe called a "pro-chamber" that supposedly makes more HP then either, but to my ears this doesn't sound good.

Ive had both and I like the X better. A lot of people do say it has a raspy sound but mine does not at all, it has a very deep rumble. Maybe its b/c I have Cats on it but I think it sounds perfect

You'll never get a good answer to this, I just cut my x off last week and put an h on, hated the x, had 4 mustangs with h thought I would give the x a try, h back on.

Dr. Gas X-Pipe and love it had a H pipe on my old stang and could not stand it.

Go dr gas X

save your money and get one they are so worth it and have the best sound of any. its a fully tuned midpipe meaning all of the pipes before the crossover are equal length. the entire purpose and physics behind an x pipe is to equalize the pulses from the engine. i replaced a jegs o/r x with a dr gas x pipe and it made a big difference in sound and noticed a difference in midrange torque as well. no i havent put the car on a dyno but the difference was noticable. also quieted down the car INSIDE a lil bit. fits like a champ too, got about 2 inches more exhaust ground clearance.

went from an O/R H to a catted BBK X pipe. It may be the cats but I love it. It is not raspy and is fairly quiet at idle. When it is opened up some it gets loud but not...oh my god I hate this.

The O/R was just too much for me.

My cat back is an old flowmaster american thunder catback.

I had my X with Flows for a while and it was much better than stock. The drone was too much for me though on long trips.

When I changed the Flows with the Bassani catback, I found the sound I really wanted. Deep, clean, and powerful sounding. The drone is much less. Now I need some engine mods to go with the big bark. :)

There is no perfect or best/better combo......just depends on what you like. My point is: Who cares about a couple of HP if you don't like the sound and you've got a car that sees mostly street duty. I wanted something different for a 5.0 and found this to fit my expectations well. I'd listen to some in person and get a feel for what you like.

i just put on my longtubes and dr. gas x pipe. i noticed a sizeable difference. i wasn't expecting much of a hp change going into it but when it was all done, wow. i still have tons of exhaust leaks as we only tacked up the x-pipe for now.

i had mac shorties and mac h before now bbk longs and dr. gas x. both with mac catback. its now a bit deeper and does kind of have that suction slight rasp sound.

x2 with bbk longs and dr gas x with mac catback. love the way it sounds

Before I went turbo I had BBK longtubes, dr. gas x, and spintech pro streets. It sounded phenomenal. With that being said, there are people who think SLP sounds phenomenal, where as I think it cannot be distinguised from a 1987 chevy pickup with straight pipes. Therefore exhaust has nothing to do with others opinion, just yours.

dr. gas ftmfw!!!! ive got one for shorties and it has its own unique sound almost like a "tuned" exhaust. dr. gas has quality precision and the way they design it makes all the difference, im sure the guys that have one on their car will all agree.
