What part of your car do you hate working on the most?

Anything that has ATF in it I cant stand the smell :puke:

I recently did a rack swap and it was insanely difficult... a seemingly two hour job turned into two days. :bang:

Drum brakes... do I have to explain.

Plugs on a 5.0 are easy... go change the firewall side plugs on a FWD V6 then come back to the fox, you'll be thankful... the fact that I have to change EIGHT is the problem. Headers arent that bad if the stuff is newer and not rusted.

... and the PCV valve.

I would have to say anything that has to do with the interior. Everything is plastic and if you break something you gotta pay a crap load to get a new one.. Even the smallest stuff is so expensive. And its all brittle plastic.. Other than that nothing mechanical on the car is really that hard.. Although I havn't had the pleasure of doing rear end stuff yet besides trying to fix my leaking axle seal, which ill probably have to replace the axle itself because it is wore down pretty good and is still leaking :(

Has anyone said cooling system yet? I hate dealing with antifreeze, you always spill it all over everything and then you have to spend a ton of time burping the system once you have it all back together. Sucks a-hole mang.

I always liked working on my Fox except for the damn thermostat cause I can never get it on without it leaking and the second was working on the drum brakes. I hate drum brakes, how can something so innefective have so many moving parts and springs? :nonono:

If I ever get another Fox I am yanking the drums first.

You aren't supposed to use all friction modifier...its 1 bottle of friction modifier, the rest gear oil :shrug:

I guess i just never thought to call the stuff gear oil...don't ask me why. I know to only use one bottle of modifier. When i think gear oil i think tractors and transfer cases but i guess it is still gear oil i just always call it diff fluid. The fluid itself i never thought smelled, it's the modifier that stinks so bad. Last time i did my rear end, my buddy hid the empty bottle in my trunk and that was enough to make my whole car stink like it.

Anything under the drivers side dash.

Installing a 93 booster for the 5-lug conv was by far the biggest pain in the....

Once the strut tower was deformed enough, the holes in the firewall elongated, upper intake moved, studs shortened on booster.....all I had to do was crawl under the dash with my feet on the headrest and install the nuts. Tightening them at the rate of an 1/8th of a turn was fun, too.

I didnt attempt this, glad i didnt. I just used the stock fox booster. i have no regrets

Foxes are easy as pie. Although, the pedal assemble swap is a big pita. I will never complain about working on a Fox since I use to own a 91 SHO, talk about a pain in the ass. EVERYTHING was a royal pain in the ass. Nothing was easy. I hated everything about working on that stupid/cool car. lol

oh yes the pedals have to be the killer for me, but im 6'1" 260 lbs, so you could imagine my big butt turned upside down and stuffed up under the dash :D. I finally had to call a friend of mine to come climb up under there and do it (he's a little fart). The tranny is no fun eigther, hmm it seems anything inverted just doesnt cope with fat-boy usage :nono:. o well :rolleyes:

Just the number 8 plug. And its not that hard compared to newer cars, no. But I still think it's a pain in the ass.

Funny, I've always found the #1 plug (passenger-front) to be the biggest PITA out of all 8 - it's those stupid A/C and smog pump hoses that keep getting in the way that I hate. Just changed plugs on my '84 this weekend, got sloppy with the flex-head rachet a couple of times and made a nice pop and shower of sparks when I accidentally touched the battery terminal twice before I finally wised up and covered the positive terminal with a rag. :D

I don't know if there's really a MOST annoying part on Foxes, but I do have a list of things I absolutely hate dealing with:

1. Anything that involves pulling off the intake manifold;

2. Anything that involves pulling the water pump;

3. Heater core - never have done one on a Fox, probably never will, as I just wear a thick coat and gloves for the two whole months of the year that a heater would get used;

4. Lower ball joints - I HATE those frickin' ball joint presses with a passion, they almost NEVER drive the damned ball joint in straight on the first try;

5. Drum brakes - dunno how many times I've been trying to hook a spring over one of those pegs and launched the damn thing across a garage or driveway;

6. Anything that requires dropping the tranny (T-5 or AOD);

7. Anything that requires dropping the tranny pan on an AOD - I always get Mercon all the way up to my frickin' armpits no matter what, and it takes forever to wash that crap out of my hair;

8. Cat-backs - I'm pretty anal about the alignment of my tailpipes, so that makes the job hard enough, but when you have a cat-back kit like Flowmaster that isn't welded up or bent right from the factory, it makes an unpleasant install even more of a headache;

9. Rack n' pinion removal/install;

10. Any kind of body work ... mainly because I have virtually no autobody tools or talent whatsoever. If it can't be fixed with sandpaper, a hammer, some rattlecan paint, JB Weld, and/or Rustoleum, then screw it, it's not getting done. :D

Ahh, see, my car doesn't have A/C anymore. Plug 8 sucks the most for me, haha.

No regrets now, the pedal feel and brake performance is perfect. In fact, I cant even drive the old man's stock 89 GT anymore. I can't stand the 2 inches of pedal travel prior to the car actually slowing down.

My parents had a 95 SHO. I've never seen a car go through so many alt's and starters. Doing the 120K timing belt, valve lash, water pump, etc was a major pain. Trying to remove the rear most camshaft seal (next to pass shock tower) was awful.

I didn't think the heater core was too bad. Yes, it took a whole day (9 hours), but the actual work was not that bad. I just took my time making sure I didn't break any of those interior plastic clips....
