I recently bought a Jet performance chip for my stang and I can't get the damn thing to work. She starts, but won't hold idol... any suggestions? I called jet and they told me to clean the connection on the computer better but shes as clean as she gets... please help!!

well the chip is brand new from jet performance, i followed all instructions that came with the chip as far as removing the dielectric grease, cleaning it with alcohol and still when i plug it in the car won't hold idol and dies as soon as i take my foot off the gas? I can hear the spark plugs firing like crazy even when i turn the key onto the on position with the chip plugged in also? any suggestions??

Anything but a custom chip burned from the results of a dyno run is a waste of time and money. The mass market chips don't do much more than advance the spark timing a little. You can achiveve the same results with a timing light.

Suggestions...? I have the chip and paid like 350 for it so...... Like it to work. Any suggestions?

Return it

Custom tune or don't bother at all. You'll prob gain 2 HP provided you get it to run right.

How did you clean the J3 port?

used a toothpick, and then alcohol like the dude at jet told me to do... I am just going to return the chip, maybe there a defect in it or something

Does the car run fine with the chip removed totally?

If you decide to keep the chip, I like to use an eraser to clean the tangs. The friction helps remove grease and solvent residue.
