Havent been on in awhile and just wanted to get some more advise on which way to go....

I would like to either build a 331 stroker or 351w. Currently my car is mostly stock except for full exhaust. I also have a paxton novi 1220 sitting in my garage in its box never opened. After some thinking I had decided I would go 331, but talking to many people, it seems like the 351 might be the better route for future goals.

Id like to make at least 375-425 hp. Id like to use the paxton I have, so another question is if I can make the novi 1220 work on the 351W?? And if anyone has info on how to do this. Or maybe I should just sell the supercharger.

Ive been looking at 03 cobras and even the new 5.0, but with those I would then have to make monthly payments, etc. Even if I get a cobra, what would you do with the 5.0? should I go 331 or 351w? Again, ive always wanted to supercharge it, so if possible, keep that a part of it.

You'll spend a little more building and installing the 351W in your car, but you'll have a stronger foundation for future growth. Also, a stock stroke 351, or even a stroked W (393 or 408) will be able to make more than your desired power levels with much less effort, and in the end be more streetable, since you won't have to rev it as high or run as much boost as you would with a smaller engine.

That said, you can pretty much open a catalog, close your eyes, and randomly pick parts and make 375hp NA with a 331 or 347. With a little bit more effort, you can make 375hp with a NA H/C/I 302.

Isn't the 1220 one of the smaller Paxton units?

Yea, the paxton 1220 is the standard kit. Figured I would go 331 and run low boost maybe 6-8 psi with a power pipe.

Thinking about it more, if I do plan on getting a cobra in within the next few months, id prob be happy with a streetable 331 with the paxton. As long as I dont get too crazy, the block should hold up pretty well right?

would a 351 and a paxton be much different than stroking a 302? as far as cost goes? i mean swap out the 302 for a 351 probably save a few bucks, swap out the stock 351 cam and throw the paxton on and call it a day until you want more power and then stroke that?

+1 couldnt agree more.

to do the 351 u will need a few different parts that arnt interchangable with the 302 but in the long run its more than worth it.

parts that dont interchange. headers, manifold, dizzy, balancer, flywheel, oilpan, fuel rails

the first time i took my car to the track with an a-trim vortech at only 4psi i ran a 11.84 at 121.81 mph and i have very little suspension work done. this is also with no tune, only me screwing around aimlessly with my pms. as u can see my et and my mph do not match at all. that pass was only a 1.9 60 foot. with some suspension work and nothing else done at that mph id be dipping into the 10's.

now since ive tossed the a-trim and now have a sq-si trim and run it at 6-7psi if i got a good tune id probably be mid 10's with the suspension work as well.

did i mention my car has got a high of 20.88 mpg on the highway as well and i drive it almost an hour and a half to camp pendleton 1 way everyday.
