Hello all! After being without a 5.0 for nearly five years, I decided to sell my Subaru and get a nice convertible daily driver.
After many let downs and run-around's from potential sellers, I ended up with this fine 1990 Special Edition convertible... aka 7-up Mustang.

The motor is bone stock, it even had the rubber distributor cover on and the stock "big n little" Ford mufflers!

Here's what it looked like after we took out the seats for thorough cleaning:eek:

After a shampoo and moisture extractor:

I see 7 cents and a altoids can, good stuff there!
oh, nice pick on the car!

That Altoids tin was dated "good till 05" :nonono: not only were the old receipts 2-3 years old, I also found various pills in cellophane bags. I think the guy was a junkie that maybe even lived outta the car for a while.
I wiped the seats with rubbing alcohol, and that worked wonders on the grime. Then rubbed in some Kiwi leather conditioner. They look and feel great!

Cap and rotor were Ford parts and pretty wore out/corroded. Those were replaced before I even drove her home. Wires MIGHT be O.E. and I'm getting ready to pull the plugs right now...

Pray for me! lol

Congrats. Here is a link to the 7 Up registry 1990 Limited Edition Mustang Registry

Thanks Mike! I'll complete my registration w/ a data plate pic tomorrow when I get some sun. My axle code looks like its "E" aswell.. is this a somewhat rarer option?

Thanks for the kind remarks, all! Some seriously nice cars in your pics :nice:

The plugs were bad, 50k+ miles is my guess... a few even had rusty threads. After a full tune, cleaning the MAF wire, ditching the silencer and replacing a worn battery cable, the car woke up. Feels like a solid 30hp bolder. I'm guessing that the lack of torque was causing the converter stall higher... the low-end is great now and the tires break loose just like when she was off the lot!

I still have to fix the rear Pass. window and the electric mirrors only go up -or- out. But it's getting there. My body/paint guy is just 2 blocks from me, so I'll throw up pics of his work as soon as I get the chance.

Good score! If you know a place that rents a steam cleaner, grab it and put the shampoo in it. Should be able to take those coffee stains right out. It took worked-in black soot out of my car's interior with no problems, made the blue look like new.

Good advice!
I used a Rug Doctor that I rented at a Grocery store. It is just a "spray n suck" machine, no actual heater or steam.
With the seats bolted in, the carpet looks pretty nice. In fact the floor mats make it look WORSE now. I cleaned them too, but they were pretty scary.
