All you guys running long tubes with lowered cars, what's your ground clearance like? Right now I'm about 2" maybe a little more at the collector. Anyone one else running low? Are you having any "running a ground" issues? Besides the obvious speed bump issues.

Different brands of longtubes will hang lower/higher. What brand are you running? one of the Hooker models are notorious for being low. I'm installing MAC longtubes and upon test fit it doesn't look like they'll be more than 1/2" below the frame rail. Have you checked your motor mounts? I *think* the conv. mounts are lower.

Im running hooker super comps on mine. I also have the ron morris drop mounts. That said I have 17 inch wheels which I think probably raise the car a little, also victor jr raied port heads. Never had much of a clearance issue with the headers.

When I was running 14's and had a set of hedmans on the 289 those used to scrape on speed bumps. There is deffinitley some variation between the brands.

I'm running hedman Lt headers (they hang very low), with stock 65 mounts. I'll eventually go with shorties (if i need to), but not till after the summer.

Until then I'll continue avoiding all speed bumps.

I was using Headman long tube headers with RonMorris lowering mounts. I sold those headers to go with JBA shorty's due to gound clearance. It was ok most of the time but speed bumps in parking lots got me. I think I only scraped them a few time but for as little as I drive mey car that was a few too many. I hate having parts that don't work well with the rest of the car. I will not have problems with my JBA's.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go that route. After looking into it more these hedmans have to go. I want to drive the car and not worry about little bumps :nice:

I have Ford Powertrain headers too and love them. They tuck up nice and tight, even with my lowered engine. My ground clearance was 3/4" at the headers before the FPAs. Now the lowest point is the bellhousing. Used to get caught on everything, but I went with a taller wheel/tire combo.
