I do believe you can pull the FMS 31 spline T-lok out of an explorer, so you might be able to find one at a junk yard. But the axles are the weakest points on the rear ends. Throw some 31 splines in there and you'll be good to launch at 5k with slicks everytime.
I went from a [email protected] to a [email protected] switching from stock to 4.56s. Ran out of gear and shifted into 5th :bang:
Now that I've gotten it figured out a little better I wont have to worry about 5th in the 1/4
Yeah I did a complete rear end swap with a guy selling his cobra. We both thought that the 4.56s would be way too much but once the swap was done we were both surprised.
In the 1/4 you'll run out of gear on 26 in slicks. You need 28 in slicks and a slight bump in the rev limiter to make it...
This is what I've found out with my 4.56s on a stock GT.
1. Its perfectly fine on the street if you know how to drive and not mash the pedal.
2. The highway is not your friend, nor is it your enemy. I still get around 22mpg
3. Highway racing is retarded and you shouldnt be doing it...
with some bending and possiblity switching flanges you could probably use whatever midpipe you want. However the BBK one is the closest you'll find to a direct fit and even some of those have slight problems.
You're gonna end up with a major air restriction by doing that. That 1.5 psi drop was at what boost level. Im thinking the most boost you throw at it the more obvious the restriction is going to become.
You're actually better off running slicks with the stock axles than you are running drag radials.
The slicks have a softer side wall that helps to absorb the impact, which reduces the stress immediately applied to the axles.
Id throw one on there just to be sure, but I'd have it retuned for a flatter a/f curve looks like they knew they were gonna run out of fuel so they made it really rich and hoped it would offset the lack of fuel for a little while.
