So I was driving around in my 87 foxbody the other day and then i started hearing a clingy noise. I didnt pay much attention to it because i thought it was a plastic cover hanging loose at the bottom. As i kept driving, the noise got louder and it would make the noise when i was in neutral and all gears. the only way it would stop was when i stepped on the clutch. It would let me shift into 1st and 2nd but when i tried going into third it would grind and make the clingy noise until i took it off of 3rd. I had to drive it home in 2nd and the higher i reved it the louder the noise was. any ideas on what this is?

Could be clutch related as well. Failing throw out bearing?

At a dead stop, with trans in neutral and clutch out, does the noise stop immediately when you press the clutch in, or does it take a second or two to slow down
