Hey, I have a 66 mustang w/ a 289, almost totally done now. I went with an aod transmission from an '84 t-bird. It turned out pretty decent, even though it hasn't been driven much since I've been doing the prepping for paint. Cost rounded out to about 500 bucks. 250 for trans, 125 for the xmember, 60 for the flywheel, and I really didn't have to replace the driveshaft but I did anyways...Another 400 bucks damage. Oh and the all important throttle valve cable and set up. I don't regret it at all. Last time I had it out on the street the difference was awesome.
