I'm gonna try to put together a 393 stroker this winter and Im trying to decide which way I should go about it. The short block pre-assembled costs $2999 and the stroker kit costs $1599 from CHP, but I still need to find a block. This will be my first engine project so the DIY way seems kinda intimadating, but I have some friends who have done this before and they said they could help me.
Let's say I can find a 351 block for around $400, I would be around $2K including the stroker kit. Does anybody have a good estimate how much the machine work will be? Is it worth the saved money to do it myself, or should I just pay a little more and order the short block?

BTW, HERE"S what I want to get. The Street Fighter-Pro Street.
