    4.10

Is your traction control on? Try turning it off.

He's got an 04 GT not a 05-07. Your probably only pushing about 275hp max to the wheels so 4.10's arent gonna bring on miracles. I have 295/40/20's on my stang and can rarely spin in first. I can chirp them on the 1st to 2nd powershift. I'm running 3.55's right now but am having 4.10's installed this week along with a Spydershaft. Really Pumped. I'm hoping that I'm not disappointed after the install. I doubt I will be and even so, I think my Zex Nos kit that I'm installing will take care of that problem real quick. hehe. Later fellas.

I'm pushing ~315 RWHP alongside my 4.10's and if I stomp it in 1st @ the right RPM I'll definitely break my street tires loose.

Before my tune, S/C, gears, etc, I was able to light up the tires on my auto if I held the brake and jumped off around 3000rpm. Without such sillyness I'd only chrip it when it shifted in to second. So with all your mods, it should be fairly frisky.

But if you're not happy with the car after the gears and tune (try a Brenspeed tune first) then it's time to get a performance torque converter. With a nice street performance one the converter won't lockup until 3000+ and you'll get all kinds of spin all the time.

I haven't gotten one because it would make driving my FI car just silly. It's already pretty jumpy even with the stock TC!

Even if he had a 04 he should be able to spin them without a problem. I was able to spin the tires with my stock 01 automatic GT. Now 2 years later and a couple mods under my belt including 3.73 gears, I can spin them going into second If I turn traction control off.

I was in your boat once. Had the 4.10s installed and depending on the weather and road condition, I would also only chirp sometimes and spin on others. I guess that we're on the borderline with just 4.10s and no other major power adders. Of course, I have the 18" BFGs KDWs, so it may be a bit different.

Hi Maxima, Sorry I didnt realize you had an 06 GT. Koodawg has Youtube videos of his GT Automatic with 4.10's. He gets wheelspin in 1st gear and a chirp or two in second. Pretty sure he has a tuner and maybe even something else. Right now I'm still running my 3.55's for a day or two and I have beastly 295/40/20's on the rear of my 07 5spd. I can rarely get wheelspin in first and I get a little chirp in second. Unless I punch it around a corner then all hell breaks loose. I think unless you get a torque converter and a custom tune you probably wont spin that much. Hooking up is better anyway. With chicks its even better!:D Have fun

I think i had the same problem as you. I have an 06 auto too and had 4.10's installed and they didn't retune my car right, so i had no power in lower rpm's. I got a better tune now, and it runs great. Feels like i have a ton of power out of the hole. So you probably need a better tune if you even have one.

I noticed a HUGE difference from the time I drove to the shop and driving back home. Anything over 1800 RPM at a dead stop, my 18" KDWSs start spinning. Maybe you're tune is weak! There isn't much tire spin from a dead stop coming off idle, but rev it some and it will spin almost all the way into 2nd:D My mods are in my sig. In the next few weeks, I will be going to 295/45-18 in the back so I imagine my tire shredding days will be limited. To me I don't care about wheel spin anyways. I'd rather hook-n-go:nice:

My tune is actually spot on. I had it custom dyno tuned. When refering to wheel spin. I mean when I pull out and "Gun it" without revving her up and popping the clutch I get very little spin. When I give it gas and pop the clutch at anything above 2500 I can tear'em up. I actually prefer this like Kooldawg said. I'm sure with 17's or 18's I would probably be spinning like crazy. Really excited to see what the 4.10's do to my ride

Are you putting those tires on your fanblades? I would like to go a little wider also. What would you say is the widest I can go with these rims on the front and rear?

Sorry man I'm running HPD Chrome 20's on my car with 295/40/20's. I'm not sure what will work with your setup. My brother has an 01 GT with 18x10's and 305/40/18's. I imagine your 18's arent that wide however so you wont be able to run that wide. Kooldawg knows more than I about wheels and tires. Maybe he'll post

After next week, my fanblades will become my winter weather wheels. I just recieved today the 18x8.5s(F) and 18x10s(R)and will get the tires next week. I'd say with the 8.5 wheel you wouldn't want to go much wider than 255 front and rear. Esp if you go with a 45 or lower profile tire.
tirerack has pretty good writeups on tire/wheel info.

Sorry to change the subject, but how much should a gear change cost? The local Ford place wants $1650 to change gears on my 07. I had them change gears on my 91 5 years back and it was only $400. Is there something special they need to do???

    Thanks
