installed 94-95 t-5 with the m2 bell last summer and put roughly 750 miles on the setup. i noticed a slight leak over the winter and it turns out the bearing retainer was leaking a little. however, i did find a much bigger issue with the wear on the input shaft. you could clearly see a wear pattern of only 3/8 of an inch. based on this i am going to install a new roller pilot bearing and and have a new sleeve machined based on the t-5 swap on the .net site.

while the 94-95 might help with the longer input shaft, it is not enough and you will definatly need to do something with the pilot bearing. the other other option would be using the t-5 bell but that may bring up other issues.

Anyone else running the 94-95 input and having these issues? First i've heard, but would like to know of any more. I bought the 94-95 input for the T-5 swap for mine. See how it works out i suppose. Besides, I think the good lord likes seeing me do things 2 and 3 times over, even if i know better....:nonono: Or is that just Murphy's Law??

I've got a T5 with the 94-95 input shaft in my car. I let my mechanic deal with the install, and after doing a mock-up he insisted the input shaft didn't engage far enough into the pilot bearing. He ended up getting a pilot bearing sleeve made up similar to the one Darryl (a351must2) used.

I had always assumed that the pilot spacer/sleeve would still be required. The benefit that i saw was that the longer input meant that the pilot sleeve would not be hanging as far out of the crank as the "early" T5 would require.

Anyone know if the V6 trans has the same dimensions as the V8 version? The 3.8 trans is rated at the same torque capacity as some of the pre '90 V8 trannies, and is presumably more common/cheaper.

My favorite location for T-5 info is gone (http://home.blarg.net/~bossbill/t_5.html). If anyone knows of a new location, let me know.

Luckily I copied it! ;)

Following is an exerpt, sorry for the poor formatting.

Year Engine Torque Cap 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Length Diameter
87-88 2.3 240 3.97 2.34 1.46 1.00 0.79 7.41 0.59
94-97 3.8 265 3.35 1.93 1.29 1.00 0.73 7.85 0.668
93 5.0 310 3.35 1.99 1.33 1.00 0.68 7.18 0.68
94-95 5.0 310 3.35 1.99 1.33 1.00 0.68 7.85 0.668

As you can see the 3.8 T-5 has the same input shaft diameter as the 5.0, but a longer length...in fact its nearly a half-inch longer than the RAD input shaft. The question is can it be turned down/shortened?
