i'll probably stop when i put gears in also. 4.30's or lower makes it easier to giddy up. this tall gear leavs me no choice. i get challenged every driver i see at lights these days.

as a side story a girl in my training class has an 04 Z06. it suck to cower to a girl. she makes just as much $$$ as me, so i can't out spend her. she's going to turbo the stinkin thing. she really doesn't just say stuff. i'll never kill her little vette.

I used to do the same thing, but my auto finally crapped on me.

I was guilty of doing the neutral revs as well, and I honestly felt stupid doing it. Just one of few reasons why I swapped for a manual.

But don't get me wrong. I never hated my auto, and I still miss it at times. But I found a stick to be more suitable for my driving habits.

    for sure...
First time I heard the 'clunk" I thought it was my calipers sticking.

I drive in town with the o/d off, I turn it on if Im driving at 45mph or more for a few miles. I love to cruise at 30-35mph and drop it in 2nd and goooo!

My o/d comes on by itself if the rpm's get to high, kinda sucks at times..

What difference is there in downshifting manually compared to automatic downshifting? I'd like to do it but everyone tells me my tranny will explode.

They're called two different things because one automatically clutches or clutches and shifts, and the other needs to be manually done.

If manual shifting wasn't allowed on the auto tranny, it wouldnt be possible. It's not like it's a glitch or something. Just how safe is it if it's done right..?

I use to beat the **** out of 98's Auto, took every inch of pain too for five whole years, even had a friend accidently drop it in reverse twice at 50mph because he overjumped the neutral

The whole point is the 'use' your O/D when you drive at a consistant speed over 45 mph

So push the button so the O/D OFF light is on and drive it there until you reach a highway speed and want to shift to 4th
