backfiring question

if i get in my car,93 GT with a crate stroker 331....if i get in it,crank it and leave right then, it will backfire 1 maybe 2 times...but after it warms up it doesnt do it anymore at all...anyone have any ideas ?

It sounds like you're either running too rich in open loop and require a custom tune

Your ignition system is not up to snuff

Is the engine EFI or carb? If EFI, what size injectors and MAF? Is the MAF an aftermarket unit that is matched to the injector size?

jrichker...it is EFI,it has 24# injectors and the MAF i have absolutely no clue as to what it is sorry

The MAF's will generally have the manufacturer's name cast into the housing for aftermarket MAF's. Pro-M or Mass air systems will mark the MAF sensor housing with an ID. C&L will use a different size sample tube to feed air to the MAF sensor element.
