Buy the '93 coupe, or a '81...

Hey all,

I'm about to go pick up a '93 5-speed 2.3L notchback, but today I found a '81 5-speed 2.3L notchback at half the price of the '93.

Are these cars that different from the later models? '86 and up? So many parts available for the '86 and up cars, would buying one of these '81 models be a severe headache? I'm planning on some Griggs or MM work underneath and a 2.3T.

I'm starting to think it might be best to get the cheaper one. It doesn't look quite as clean, and I just emailed the seller concerning rust or any other issues he's had. The '93 appears really clean minus leaning seats and inop power windows.

Opinions?

I'd get the newer one, especially if you think the 81 has rust while the 93 is still in good shape.

The 93 has 105hp vs 80-something for the other, plus the 93 has much better engine controls. It's EFI and will get good gas milage, while running well in any weather and run more smoothly, as compared to the carberator the 81 has.
