Chafed Wire Repair

Picked up a used harness and has some damage, One wire had a few strands but the bulk of the wire is still there.


Besides the oblivious cut and solder new wire.

Heat shrink would be a good fix, but I would have to unpin from the harness connector.

Or the option 2 the somewhat quick fix, Rtv the chafed area

Good old electrical tape

Use either solder and heat shrink tubing or heat shrink tape.
Or liquid electrical tape

Yes, that isn't typo, heat shrink tape.

It is somewhat expensive, but once you learn how to use it, it really should be a good choice.

Separate the harness. Electrical tape the good wires with damaged insulation, and solder in a splice on the one held by a few strands. Tape up harness and reloom.
