Damned rain! I had just gotten to work and I park on what used to be a driveway but is now used for parking. I was backing up and saw that I was getting to close to the curb so i pushed the clutch in to roll down alil and when I give it gas to go back up the tires lost traction on the wet asphalt sliding the car into the curb! I know have about a 2 inch scuff on the rear wheel!!!
I also damaged a wheel (fanblade) on a curb. I replaced it. Ford's price, even at wholesale, was way too high. Got a genuine Ford wheel, brand new in the box, from blueovalindustries.com for about half of Ford's wholesale price. Retail was like $650, wholesale was a little more than $400 and blueovalindustries.com's price was just a hair over $200 shipped. I got it in two days. They carry most wheels. My body shop guy said he could not repair the wheel for $200.
That sucks man. You should be able to bring it to a local wheel shop for repair. I had one done on my old truck for around 100 bucks.
Yea i just got them a couple of months ago..upon closer inspection in the daylight its not too bad. It was mostly concrete that made it look worse. Its more like a one inch scratch...its not too bad i think i can live with it.. Posted via Mobile Device
My $100 Double Whopper: I curbed my left front at the BK drive-thru. Cost me a hundred bucks to buff out.
Mine was worse. Not difficult to buff out if it really bugs you. I had a company called Rolling Stock here do it for me. They did the entire circumference to make things even and rebalanced.
I just curbed my wheel this morning on my way to work. Mine goes about 1/3 around the edge of my stock 17"s though and looks worse but still not noticeable to most people I'm sure. I can't decide if I should replace it with a new one or just wait until next spring and get all new 18"s and tires. Is it possible that curbing the wheel could throw off alignment? I just grazed the curb at about a 1 mph or so.
For the stock wheels with scuffs, check out craiglist. There is always someone selling some stock mustang wheels! I purchased a set of used but looked perfect bullits just incase! I got them for 180.00 . You never know when something stupid is going to happen!
I curbed one of my wheels also...all the way around. But is was a slight curb rash that just took off the chrome and no gauge to the actual wheel. Now I'm looking for where I can get my wheel re-chromed or repaired locally.
Two weeks after I bought my '06 I bought a "New Take-Off" wheel (17" Bullitt) as a spare for $88 (was nearly new...and in perfect shape)...I figure that if I do scuff a wheel I can put that one on and send the damaged one to "Wheels America" and for about $130 they'll fix it and send it back within a week...I've used Wheels America twice in the past for my other vehicles and they've been great! Insurance Body shops like Progressive will take that rub out. I had one that was deep and about 5 inch long . When they got done , I could not tell the wheel had ever been hurt, amazing.
