i have 3:73's in m y 98 vert and i like them. i am in the same position that you are. i go to the drags every now and then, i like to take road trips, and it is my daily driver. the gears helped out a bunch. i get into the rpm's a lot faster and the car seems to pull better. my gas milage is fine and it still cruises on the highway at around 2700 at 80. 4:10's would have been nice but i like my 3:73's.
Ok heres the plan: A diablo predator and 4.10 gears. I think 3.73's would be better for all around driving. However I don't like going through a whole process like gears and not being 100% satisfied with it. I know for a fact that if I had 3.73's part of me would be happy with my gas mileage and part of me would want for 4.10's. Being realistic I know that I'll make due with 4.10's. I don't wanna be caught at the track saying "I wish I had done 4.10's." Even though I'm not a regular track person, its still more important to me than highway cruising.
I just got 410s put in and I must say the car feels much faster, But on the highway it is at close to 3k rpms and does not seem to like it as much at 80plus mph. Therefore I do not think they are a good highway gear but they kick ass on the street. you just need to get used to actually using 5th gear.
