I went out to Firebird Raceway and had a blast tonight. It was HOT as heck. ~120* on the track.

I had the PLEASURE of racing against a 2005 GTO with 6-speed seven different times. Each and every time I beat him by 3+ car lengths. He never even came close. I didn't expect my car to be so much faster than him. Always figured the GTO was a little bit quicker, because my last car was an M6 GTO too.

I even raced against a supercharged SN95 mustang and beat him by half a nose too.

I sweat so bad while racing got dehydrated and went home. There was probably less than 25 cars there tonight which was wierd. I think I made about 12 passes in total. My tires were spinning all the way through middle of third gear almost every time. A couple times I almost got sideways going into second gear.

As for mods to get x-tra ponies we are equal. I ran my car against two different 6-speed GTO's and got them every time, even when coming from behind due to a bad launch I could still run them down, and I have 3:31 gears. For having 400 hp they are slow. Thats what 300 # more will do I guess.
My best time was 13.68 @106.4 with temps in the upper 70s and no wind.

If I explained to you how slow cars are in 120* heat it is embarrasing because most of you guys get to race in great weather.

My PB was a 14.0 @102mph. GTO was running 14.3-14.4@99mph all night. Supercharged SN95 was running 14.2@102mph, and the Shelby GT500 was running 14.0@105mph. The only cars I saw running below 14.0 were on drag slicks. It was humid and almost 120* on the track.

Unmodded S197 GT was running mid to low 15's that night. Most of the cars at the track were mustangs by some odd reasons.

This guy knew his car well and takes it to the track regularly, and this was my first time in the Mustang. I used to drag race every week up til a year ago. I knew him a little bit from the GTO meets we used to go to.

Glad you had a good time! A win is a win...no matter what:nice:

120 and humid are definite power killers! I had my first on track experience in late July with that. The other times I've been to the track have been in the months of April, May and September. In July, it was mid 90s and humidity was in the 50-60% (not bad for MD that time of year) range from what I heard later. Both full weight and weight reduction, I was running 3 tenths and around 4-5 MPH slower then my better runs in the other months. Lots of people were running slower so I knew it wasn't just me and my car:nice: I go back to the track on Sept 20 and hope for 12s at full weight as I will have a few more mods (LCA & DS) and perhaps stickies as well.

I feel ya, it was 95* last 2 times i ran the cobra and the GT at the traack. The cobra was cutting 14.1's and 14.3's and the gt was about the same. Maybe a lil higher.

I feel a little better about my times. I know it wasn't just me because everything was slow that night. It's normally not humid here, but we had a Monsoon storm rolling in that actually started dumping as I was leaving the track. So it was horrible.

If there wasn't a GTO there for me to beat up on so many times, then I would have felt really bad, because I would probably have blamed my driving or my car. I know my driving will improve, and I could use stickier rear tires, and I was running at full weight and full tank of 91. I wanted to see what my car did as it stands on the street. It's still a beast though! When it get's cold I will see first hand.

Hell I'm making 298/325 at the wheels all motor, and now 431/560 at the wheels on bottle. I wish I had the bottle installed that night.

Yea lets face it, if cars such as gtos and t/a's are cutting crappy times as well its a sure bet that not everyone is a sucky driver.

I can't wait til fall comes around, when its dry and not as humid and chilly at night.
