My father just gave me a 91 GT last week... it has a few problems (mainly stemming from letting my step-sister drive the car for a prolonged period... dumb b*tch) but overall is a very strong running machine.
The problem I'm trying to correct now is when I first start the car it idles extremely low (probably like 400-500) and will completely die if I take my foot off the gas. If I let it warm up some, it will eventually stay running (but still under 700 RPM). When I take my foot off the gas it will surge... sounds like it's gonna die, but then picks back up... over and over. Once The car is compeltely warmed up, there is no idling issue.
I'm used to working on old-school cars... 1972 and older... so a lot on this car eludes me. I just bought a Haynes manual for it but unfortunately it really doesn't discuss this problem I'm having. Troubleshooting from an old car perspective, I'd normally look to the choke as the problem... but as I've said... not at all familiar with EFI engines.
Any suggestions?
TIA
