Hey 05+ Gang, Has anyone heard of a new Cobra Jet model being offered? My father in law went to a local Ford dealer show last weekend and showed me some pictures of a car claiming that it's a brand new Cobra Jet. I'm saying there really is no such thing and that in all likelyhood this is just a suped up GT Mustang that a dealer has installed vintage badges on to get their 50,000 price tag. Probably because they can't meet the Shelby demand and see some opportunity. Am I wrong or is he gullable? Sorry about the poor photo's.
tasca day I was at the show last weekend with my 06 GT. Tasca Ford hosts their Tasca Day every year and shows off their products, customer cars and museum pieces. The Cobra Jets are your basic Saleen 3.5-4psi installation. Nothing too special. A vintage badge, nice wheels, a Cervinis hood, window scoops, FRPP exhaust and the blower. Nothing to justify the higher price other than its a turn-key package (if that's your thing). Saleen installation is 7995. That's a little high with no add on's or custom tuning. During the show they also had a mobile dyno set up... only $89 for one pull, no a/f. And they wondered why they're weren't a bunch of people lined up to lay down some numbers
cobra jet My cobra jet must have been one of the ones he saw. It was my alternative to spending 15 to 20 K over MSRP on a Shelby. Right now its running steeda handling pkg, saleen supercharger, new pony interior.magna flow exhaust, steeda headers and various other upgrades. Granted I have a ways to go on performance but as its a daily driver I can wait for the 9 lbs boost.Yes Tasca puts it name on it as a sales pkg but so does Roush,Saleen, Kenny Brown et al. Its a sweet ride, goes fast, and takes corners. All out of my basic black GT stang.
