Hi Guys I need some info and stuff on these units. What I would like to do is RUn Movies on my headrest screens when useing nav. up front? Can this be done on the D3 if I use the Ipod for the movies for the rear? Can you have the Nav. screen on the headrests as well? Would the Nav. on the D3 be close to as good or better then the TOMTOM 910 I'm useing now? Or do I have to go up to the Z2 for that? Are the Graphics as good on the D3 as the Z2? or very close for Mapping and stuff? Dose the D3 do 3D mapping like the tomtom 910? Any other info would be great! Thanks. Planning on going with the headunit and 2 Pioneer 7" headrest screens.
The navigation map is not a output, so it will not be visible on other screens. To run more screen off the unit, you might need a video amplifier to boost the output video signal. The mapping pictures are pretty much all the same(dont know about Tom Tom) as well as the resolution of the screens, but the Pioneer navigation is pretty good If you make sure its Dual Zone unit, you can have nav on the front and video in the rear
I'm not too familiar with the Z2, but the D3 is a pretty basic screen for Pioneer. I've installed a few of them and I personally would recommend the Kenwood 7100. At my shop we sell about 10 Kenwood navs to every 1 Pioneer nav and I know with the Kenwood you can run the nav up front and use the DVD to play on the rear screens because it has dual zone. Also, the Ipod interface is WAY better on the Kenwood for audio and video.
i have the D3 in my wife's car. It's ok. The nav isn't that great imo. THe stock unit in my Yukon is better. Because the street I live on (built in 2000) isn't on the map, if I try to navigate from home, the little arrow is always wrong. It won't snap to the correct spot on the hiway until I stop somewhere and turn it off, then on. The radio and other parts work good. I have mine bypassed and have tested a DVD once. It wasn't my thing as far as I know, it has outputs for rear monitors
New member-------Can you tell me if the kenwood 7100 would fit the Mazda CX7 ?? I was told that the Poineer z2 might be my best bet?????????? If the kenwood will fit, can you give me info on where to purchase. Many thanks for your help.
The Avic-Z2 and the Kenwood 7100 are the same size, as with all double din units. Because of the layout of the factory deck, the dash kit that is available for your car is more expensive than the typical ones. I personally like the Kenwood 7100 the best out of all the nav units, maily because it is the easiest to use IMO, and has a good overall feature selection. I work for a company called Car Toys, and we have stores in Washington, Oregon, Texes and Colorado. I believe we sell the 7100 for 1199.99, but you can find it online for less, but I personally hesitate to buy expensive electronics online for warranty reasons. Just go to any nice car electronics shops in your area and see what they have, then you can get a quote on install as well. Here is a link to the dashkit that you will need if you plan on changing out the deck in the CX-7. Some owners may not like the way it looks compared to the factory unit, but it is your only option, and if you have the Bose factory system, you may need to change the entire system out to get everything to work properly and sound good. http://www.bestkits.com/ViewImage.aspx?img=i/bkma1533b.jpg
