Problem reconnecting a brake line fitting

Reinstalled the rear end yesterday and torqued down all the bolts today and put the sway bar and calipers back on. I came to one brake line fitting that runs off the housing and connects straight up to a brake line that runs along the bottom of the car that will not re connect. It came off fine but now it will not thread back in.

I remember that one from my Cobra conversion. Memory says it was a PITA to get the threads started, so you're not going crazy. No special advice except to keep trying and as always, be careful about cross-threading. Also don't forget to replace the crush washers. While you might be able to re-use them, they're cheap enough that I wouldn't risk it.

I'll have to keep trying it. I really hope I didn't mess the threads up on the fitting.

I never had a problem screwing that up. The threads could be boogered up though. Connect the end of the line that is harder to connect first. Instead of hunting around for new crush washers, you can hit the old ones with a torch real quick to anneal the metal. Makes them good as new.

I'll give it another shot today when I get home. If I cant get it in what should I do next? Could I run a tap through the fitting just to clean the threads up if they are messed up? If it wont screw in it seems like the only reason it wouldn't.

Not sure you'd be able to find a tap in that thread size.

got it back in, what an f'ing pain in the ass that was. Was really starting to think I stripped it but right on the verge of giving up the threads grabbed and it went back in. So short of having the rear end fluid in the differential , the rear end is fully installed.....

hey kurt just to add to the topic of my crappy luck lately. I went to remove the bolt on the steering shaft that is under the dash. Of course it was not a reg socket head bolt. Looked to be an allen head. I went to take it out and the frigging thing would not budge. I thought it might be reverse thread. I gave it another try this morn with a T handle allen drive that I had. Finally got the stupid thing to break loose and the cause of my issues over one stupid bolt......it was not an allen head it was 6 point star head and it had damn blue lock tight on it....go figure!!
