R my motor mounts bad?

How can I tell if my motor mounts need replacing? The motor is already out of my car. The car only has 82K but it is a 79 model.

is the rubber in good shape? just use your better judgement. i'd say replace them regardless if they're original! you can get both for about $55 at any autoparts store. i'd go with energy suspension mounts though.

if there cracked or have deep depressions in the mounts then more than likely they're bad.

I agree - give 'em a visual check. Or if you know that the fan was hitting the bottom of the fan shroud, that's a sign.

all the above is good advice. Personally given that they are 25 years old I would change them out since they aren't really that expensive.

find a used set of energy suspension or prothane bushings in the ads here or on corral. They will prolly run around 70-80 bucks.

right now is the best time to change them.....if you have doubts about them just do it now while they are easy to get at
