Well, it was a long day today, and I finally got the car to 1/4 track! The experience was interesting vs. what I am used to at SumerDuck (1/8 track). For the first time, I actually got a real tech inspection; they even checked the bottle for a blow down valve. LOL.

As usual I had a blast, and I learned a lot today. I was surrounded by mopars, cobras and professional drag cars. Everyone around me was ripping off 9’s up to 13’s. A lot of 13’s actually.

So some Chevy owners with trailers pulled up next to me and showed me the ropes of this track. They were very helpful. So TNT opens and off to the staging lanes. Details as follows:

1st Run

• RT: .449
• 60: 2.138
• 330: 5.835
• 1/8: 8.954
• MPH: 77.89
• 1000: 11.680
• 1/4: 14.117
• MPH: 87.52

On this first run, I made the classic newbie mistake! I thought I crossed the 1/4 mile marker when I really didn’t and let my foot off the gas!!!! Doh!!!!!! On this run I went up against a Chevy Jimmy on slicks. Interesting. He ran a 15.8.

The track was packed, and by the time I got to my 2nd run, they started with staging odd and even cars via a schedule. What a pain but fair is fair. So this time, I was much more prepared:

2nd Run

• RT: -.240
• 60: 2.039
• 330: 5.735
• 1/8: 8.866
• MPH: 77.43
• 1000: 11.611
• 1/4: 13.931
• MPH: 96.84

On this run, I was still getting used to the timing. I ran against a Chevy C10 truck I think, it was a dedicated track car. He ran a 12.086. My reaction time was off as I was a bit jumpy. But I did break into the 13’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is an improvement over my 1/8 time of 8.9, I got it down to 8.8! So I am very stoked, finally, a 13 second six!!!

Ok, so with the track being packed, and running on a schedule, I had to wait over 40 minutes just to stage. And the fact that I had to be home for the wife so she can go somewhere, I had to call it quits on my 3rd run! But it was my best run today!

3rd Run

• RT: .146
• 60: 2.064
• 330: 5.756
• 1/8: 8.878
• MPH: 77.79
• 1000: 11.601
• 1/4: 13.919
• MPH: 97.08

So I have finally joined the ranks of the 13 second 2005 V6’s. I am pumped. I also learned a bit today about my car, and what I need to do to get to the mid 13’s. First off I could tell my shift firmness was way tooo tooo soft. The car wasn’t jerking forward on shifts like it does on my street tune. That right there should be good for two 10’s, perhaps more. Scrming….can you chime in on this one? I’m gonna ask Excessive what they can do for me on my track tune on this one.

The second, I did this on GT take off stock pnero tires. I really need new tires!

Finally, there was another 2005 there, a black GT. The only other 05 there today! He was really cool, he was running upgraded brakes, MAC axle back mufflers, CAI, and a cool roush hood! It was a beautiful car. His times are as follows:

• 13.96
• 14.08

So that made me feel great, that I can hang with my 2005 GT brother. I wish I could have squared off against some rice. I was up against an Eclipse on my last run, but he jerked on the line then sat still while I took off. He had a .428 reaction time, but never finished the race. There were some low 12 and high 11 second supras and evo’s there. Definitely dangerous imports there!!!!!

My blood is still pumping from the adrenalin rush of racing and I can’t wait to go back. Before I do I will give Excessive a call on my shift pressure, and see what I can do about some better tires.

Of course, I will scan/post my slips tomorrow from work.

I didn’t get any cool pics of my car or vids as I went solo, but I got some other pics. Enjoy.

Awesome man, I have to wait until Saturday to get my time.

What did they say about the blow down tube? i don't have one, but I don't have a clear shot through the car either. I have mine blocked off between the rear seats and teh trunk.

Congrats man and think get that 60' time down nad you can be good to go. Get seme DR and your times will be even better.

Do you have an RPM activation switch and if so what rpm does the Nitrous activate?

I think it depends on the track, but I think you will be ok. This track is in MD, and MD is anal about N20. Yep, DR's are on the list to research!

My zex is set to kick in at WOT, I think around 2300 to 2500.

No, you don't get teh Window switch question.

Okay, I have a switch which the No2 will not activate until a certain RPM and WOT!

They both have to be in range, WOT and certain RPM. I have mine to activate at 3k rpm and turn off at 5600 rpm so that I don't hit the rev limiter.

Congrats again, yeah it will be Fun Ford and I have talked to the tech person and he said it would be fine.

You are also supposed to have metal bottle brackets? Do you have those?

Welcome to the 13 second club!! :action-smiley-035:

Those are some very nice 60's on street tires!!!

Yes, you definitely need to get the shifts firmed up! Not only will it shave time off your ET it will make it easier on your tranny... the more HP you have the firmer the shifts need to be! Otherwise you end up with to much slip and burn up your bands...

Firming the shifts up could easily have .2 off... perhaps .3...

Great job!!!

Neither Rygen or I are using a window switch... we have automatics so you really don't need a window switch... You can't bog an automatic off the line like you can a manual... and as long as you run the automatic in "D" you'll never hit the rev limiter... so in reality a window switch is not really needed...

We are both using the metal brackets that come with the Zex kit...

Ok, now I get it. To be honest I will have to call my shop to find out the information.

Yes, I have metal bottle brackets.

You're running a GT right? I'm sure you will pass me up easily. :nice: What have you done to it so far?
the only mod i have so far is flowmaster axle back. i have a pypes o/r h pipe sitting, ready to be installed. i am waiting for better weather to install it. i have not bought a CAI or tune yet, as i have been waiting for some warranty work to be taken care of. it is still not resolved, so it will wait. i was so close to buying a set of FRPP 4.30s and some LCAs, but could not find a decent local installer i trusted, thats when i bought the o/r h pipe. i dont have any track time yet, so you are a few steps ahead of me there.

small steps for me, i dont want to get too crazy right now. i still have 22,000 miles of warranty left!

I love my LCA's, they make a huge difference at the track. I think those alone with some bolt ons will set you apart from your other GT competition. All the GT owners in my area do pretty much the same thing, CAI, tuner, exhaust, sometimes headers. I only seen one or two with a blower, and upgraded LCA's on only one. Alot of them do gears though!

But this is my opinion based on talking to the owners I see at the shop and local events, track, etc. But if you get your gears, LCA and a CAI, you will be kicking it at the track.

Keep us posted on your progress, I'm very keen to see how it works out for you.

i will be sure to keep you updated, especially with my LCA choice. i still have not decided 100% on which ones i will get. i seem to have plenty of time, so hopefully there will be more options and opinions when i decide to make my purchase.
