Whether its Roush, saleen or Cobra or our own combination of all of the above what are you guys thoughts on it.

:OT: I was considering the stalker front, Svo side exit, or some other combination of body pieces not sure yet and Cobra Badged kinda making it my own Cobra. That kinda been the tradition of the cobra anyways a high performance machine that started out life as a GT anyways whether it was Shelby or SVT.:nice:

right now I was looking at the SVO Exhaust, Saleen S281 Wing, Cobra rear bumper, Stalker Front bumper 03 Style Hood with a Two Tone Paint Job Black Top Red bottom Now I would have a big smile from ear to ear if I went that way.. Now the money is where it all comes in... do what you want. Not what others say. We all have are own ideas. Whatever makes you happy go with that

I agree. I dont see any reason to not have a clone (for people like me who could never afford the real deal) but the purists freak out about it.

The only gripe I have with any stang mods really is guys cutting up original fastbacks to Eleanorize them. I love Eleanors but I kinda hate to see clean fastbacks get butchered. Wrong sub-forum for that gripe. :)

I say go for it - it's just modifications like everyone does, but it is modeled after something else already in existance.

I think a clone is great, as long as people dont lie and act like it is a real one.

Boooo :notnice: Even though it boils down to someone doing as they wish to their own car which is what's important, in the end It is what it is.

ben i think you ought to keep on your cobra badges, i mean if i had a cobra i would show that ***** off. but thats me! I don't mind the clones, i mean there are only a select few of them, so why not try and make a clone, it doesn't matter if it is clone or not, as long as it is backed up to perform. i mean with dealing with COBRA, SALEEN, or ROUSH they are all pretty souped up and it gives those high-performance cars a bad name is you got a weak set-up and get blown away then ppl get bad views on it. I would really love to make a 2007/2008 Shelby Cobra GT-500 clone, their aren't gonna be many of those bad@SS cars around, love to have that

Hey Ben ..... wanna trade VIN plates?

Haha, J/K. I'm with JT on the older ones. If it has almost "no hope" ... I can see doing that. But a decent FB car should just be restored.

Anyway, I agree that people should build their cars just how they want/like it. Screw the Purist mindset. Just don't try to make others "think" it's something else by saying it is.

If someone wants Cobra body parts, more power to you, I would have a cobra front too if I had a GT. But the emblems belong on cobras ONLY. I don't care if you have the engine, drivetrain, brakes, steering wheel, bumper, spoiler/trunklid, etc....it still is not and will never be a cobra.

It might not be a Cobra but what really makes it a "COBRA" a vin number i got one of those. mine has better suspension, brakes, rear,Tranny you name it, its better than any 94-95 Cobra ever had. So I guess bagding a Cobra might be an under statement maybe I will badge her " The Black Mamba"

as long as your not dumb enough to try to pawn it off as a real cobra/saleen/roush, i don't care what you do to it. Fakes don't bother me, but the people who drive them sometimes do.

I kinda feel that it your car do what you want to it...just realize that someone will always dog it.

Hell my GT is more cobra than GT at this point and some stuff better than a cobra. I dont go saying its a cobra. I dont have any front "grill" emblem, and have actually kicked around the idea of putting snakes on the sides just since I think they look nicer I could care less if someone thought it was real or not...lets race:D , but I feel kinda like the post above that well "its not a real cobra". At this point when it goes in for a new paint job in the next year or two I am 50/50 on snakes on the sides or nothing at all.

I think the 94-98 cobra front bumper is the hands down absolute best bumper ever made for our year cars, the best hood is the 96-98 hood with cobra R a close second, along with a s281 wing I dont think our body style can get any more sexy.

ROFL...I have one of those! We have a real Cobra too, but a lot of people think it's a clone, because there are lots of people out there who don't realize that you could get them with cloth interior, like ours...

LOL, I actually kinda like the Black Mamba thing...don't ask me why...

yea, but hey it would be pretty sweet to talk up your GT to a Cobra owner and then smash that Cobra in a race, so us GT owners don't got nothing to worry about against Cobras, Roushs and Saleens. I mean we have all the aftermarket parts to swap on and make out car better then the factory look, but i would never take a real cobra, roush, or saleen and change anything on them i would leave them mostly stock (looks wise anyhow)

I would say if you have the power to back it up, then its worthy to badge it as such. As for me, Im flaunting the 05 GT badges so when I beat something in a race they know it was "just a GT".. :D

Not that big of a deal to me. As long as you don't try to pawn it off as the real deal, its your car, do as you wish.
