Yeah, it's a 5/32" socket. These lights are just plain cheap and horrible quality. LRS is checking out the company who makes them now (at least thats what I was told). I guess they have had several complaints.
Sounds good fiveoho, just let me know what you want to do. DEPO does not make a smoke headlight kit, but we do have another smoke kit that is made by KS that fits well. 94-98 Mustang Smoke Headlight Kit at LRS - Same Day Shipping! Glad they got you all taken care of Wayne! Thanks for the kind words. y'all have a great weekend - I'm out.
Well, after installing the DEPO lights in my 95 last night, I can tell you that there is A LOT of adjustment that needs to be made before you can even get them in the right area to adjust the beam placement. The lower outside mounting point, which is supposed to be the fixed non-adustable point, had to be screwed way out to get the light to shine & align correctly. I had to pull each side out a total of 4 times per side. Just a little tech note - Use a 12mm wrench to release the 2 retainers with the tabs. Took me a solid 30 minutes of adjusting, as I had the same gap you had at the inside of the headlight/bumper cover. Now, it's as close to factory as I could expect from a reproduction part! The special adjustment tool, Detail Page for 14540 Headlight Adjusting Ratchet for Ford - Lisle Corporation , is just about mandatory to get the headlight adjusted so it shines right.
i havent had a set of headlights that fit decent without tons of adjustment yet. i got some of the black housing ones on ebay for 100 bucks that seem to be decent quality except for the rubber is starting to dry rot. the fitment issues is half to blame with the header panel is cracked and sags
thanks buddy. could you tell me what the brand name of the lights i ordered are? 94-98 Cobra Headlight Kit,Smoke at LRS - Same Day Shipping! thank u
No brand name, just an overseas specialty lighting company thats fairly new to Mustang lighting products. I forwarded a link to this thread along with some of my own pics & they are very receptive & willing to make the needed changes to the product.
No it does not. However, leaks & yellowing do happen - even with OE Ford lights. Kind of the achilles' heel of the composite headlight design. If either of these things occur we have you covered for one year, no hassle.
I always seal my headlights with silicone, even if they are good quality. IMO, better safe than sorry.
email sent to ya buddy. thank you again for all your help. let me know the details thru email = mustangmadness89@hotmail.com or post back
just want to make sure i state that even tho i wasnt happy with the particular set of headlights i ordered, LRS stepped up with the customer service to make things right. special thanks to LRSjmac for getting the ball rolling. thanks!
No problem man! Thats what we're here for. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know!
I own a 1998 ford mustang with black beauty headlight set. Does anyone know what company manufactures the LRS Black Beauty Headlights? I found on NHSTA that headlights without the amber on the corner lights are being recalled. I tried to call LRS today but they had no idea about the recall. They just gave me a telephone number to call (800-445-4540). I called the number and didnt get a call back. Recall Info. " CERTAIN CORNER LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HEADLIGHTS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT LAMPS FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME COMBINATION LAMPS THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."
