Engine Lifter Removal - Windsor Jr. Iron heads

Well, having taped-off the heads and valley while running my shop vacuum catching the particles off the die grinder, things are quite clean with respect to the fallout. While removing the heads to install the new lifters would be my first choice on an bare engine, the 16 header bolts and their...

Engine Lifter Removal - Windsor Jr. Iron heads

@RaggedGT No sweat; I was able to remove enough material to pull all the lifters; I need to remove just a bit more to slip the exact same new roller lifters into the bores....crazy. Yeah, pulling the heads was the only option that I wanted to avoid. Fingers crossed.

Engine Lifter Removal - Windsor Jr. Iron heads

@RaggedGT ....You... umm, if you look closely at the photo of the mirror showing the casting of World Products heads, the pushrod hole through the head is only ~ 3/8” in diameter.... not large enough to pass a lifter through. @Wayne Waldrep ....I’d like to hear your solution; that’s what I...

Engine Lifter Removal - Windsor Jr. Iron heads

OK, well here’s my solution. Die-grinder and vacuum pulling away the grit / shavings. All lifters removed. G

Engine Lifter Removal - Windsor Jr. Iron heads

I’ve got a new set of roller lifters for my Comp Cam in my 302. Is this a cruel joke? See photos. There is not enough clearance to pull 1i, 4e, 5e and 8i lifters from their bores. Before I take my die grinder and remove some material from the underside of the head flange, has anyone else...

    T5 vs Toploader 4 speed???

Just a quick note regarding my experience. I replaced my T-10 4-speed with a T5 and it really is fantastic for highway trips. The 5.0 is mild with only 315HP, so the T5 can handle that. I wouldn't push 400HP through a standard T5. As for gears, I am running an Eaton TruTrac with 3.25 gears...

    5.0 engine with Tri-Y headers

Well, I have been pretty happy with the 2-1/2" FlowMaster system I installed a couple summers ago, despite the 2200 rpm drone of the Flowmaster 40's. Overall, a bit too loud for this 62 y.o.! For highway, I need to drive at 80mph to get into an rpm range where it's comfortable (the 3.25 gears...

    5.0 engine with Tri-Y headers

When the tri-y headers were first introduced, they were firing order specific. 1 and 2 are paired, 3 and 4 are paired, 5 and 7 are paired, 6 and 8 are paired. Once you change to the firing order, how can the headers not react differently? I've been running these headers for a few years on...

    5.0 engine with Tri-Y headers

Like many 1st Gen owners, I now run a mildly-built (315hp)1986 roller motor in my 1966 fastback. Of course, the firing order for the 5.0 (13726548) is different from the 289 firing order (15426378). Are there any scavanging / pulse ramifications running a header specifically designed for the...

Cig Lighter circuit / Fuse blowing 1966

OK, so unplugged emergency flasher and reconnected Cig Lighter. No blown fuse! So, the Emergency Flasher was a dealer installed option and I don’t see a schematic anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find a circuitry map so I can trace this short?

Cig Lighter circuit / Fuse blowing 1966

OK, so I run an iPhone charger plugged into my Cigarette Lighter all the time, and I unplug it when I park the car so the pilot light doesn’t drain the battery. A couple weeks ago, I plug the charger in and I immediately blow the 14A fuse. I disconnected the Cigarette Lighter unit and removed...

    New third member needed

I’m very happy with my Eaton TruTrac. It can be a handful in the rain, driving spiritedly, especially on tight off-ramps. Keeps you on your toes!

Aftermarket Steering Wheel With Stock Dish?

Thanks. I'd really like to find a wheel with similar dish to the stock rimblow premium "wood grain" wheel. My LaCarra (sp) is a nice wood wheel; just not enough dish. I guess I could send-off my original and have it restored. Who is the main player in that space these days? CT

Aftermarket Steering Wheel With Stock Dish?

I have been running a "Shelby"-type wheel in my '66 GT for years with a hub extension. Still, when I compare this aftermarket steering wheel to the stock premium "wood-rim" (plastic) wheel, there is more knee room with the stock wheel. Yes, I'm 6'2" and clutching requires keeping my knee...

What The Hell Happened To This Forum?

I'll confess, I'm not much of a forum participant, but Zoo, this thread title got my attention. Over the years, I have gleaned some very good info from StangNet, but there seems to be a lot of chaff the past couple years to get to the meaningful stuff. I was able to contribute to an 8" diff...

    Limited Slip 8" Rearend

I installed a Eaton TruTrac in my 8" rear with 28 spline axles and 3.25 gears. The engine makes 315 at the crank; 260 at the rear wheels. Eaton tech told me the 8" with this diff would be good for up to 350hp at rear wheels no problem. The TruTrac is a Torsen unit where there is always power...

Paint and Body Right Rear Frame Damage Help

NatsFan - After studying the pictures, you can see that the crinkle in the frame rail is at the bottom of the U-channel. You can also see that the top edge of the fender is no longer straight. Both would tell me the frame rail was driven down on impact and is now lower at the rear on the...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifter Install Clearance

OK, so I have an '87 roller motor in my '66 GT that was built with a flat tappet cam....don't ask why, I have no idea. Well, the flat tappet cam now has one lobe that's wiped-off. I want to go back to a roller cam that I spec'd through Comp Cams. Engine has World Products Windsor Jr. heads that...
