I'm currently running FRPP shorties with the factory midpipe, and a MAC catback and trying to decide if investing in BBK 1-3/4" long tubes would be worth it for my application. It's about $1100 including BBK's catted midpipe that could go towards other things so I'm trying to weigh it out...

So as others have said the internal passages in the heads and intake manifold allow gas to enter the EGR valve, and when it's actuated by vacuum to open, the gas is allowed to recirculate?

Ok - I think I've got it, after some deliberation and a few phone calls... The EGR being open draws air (vacuum) through the passages in the heads/intake manifold to circulate back into the intake tract?

Ok I've read and reread the diagrams and I'm still not 100% on how the EGR valve works. I just don't see how it recirculates the air. Here are two pictures of my setup - anything out of the ordinary?

I guess I was just looking at the diagram thinking the gases come out of the heads, and into the exhaust manifold. How would the gas go back into the head to continue through the lower intake and then into the upper? I'm just trying to picture the flow path in case I have to explain it...

The vacuum lines I can see, it was the actual line that carries the gases he was looking for. Now in the Holley directions, they mentioned internal or external EGR, but I was looking for a diagram I guess that showed it. I know what the thermactor tubes/hoses look like but didn't recall the EGR...

I'm trying to get the car through emissions, and I have a Holley Systemax II. The car failed visual today because the inspector said he couldn't see the hose/tube connecting the EGR to the exhaust. The EGR has the vacuum lines attached but I didn't know where the line was that the exhaust...

Eek, the car does have SFCs. Guess I need to take a good look around under there in addition to getting them welded up...

Needs to be fixed whatever it is... Saw this while I was under the car this weekend... I thought the torque box was where the upper control arm attached?

Not sure this is entirely tech, but Craigslist is probably your best bet. I think 89 started the Mass Air cars (CA in 88) so that may be something to consider while you're shopping. Welcome to SN :)
