07 GTCS - check engine light

Check engine light came on. P0430 code. Brought to ford dealer to confirm bad cat...and it is. My question is, is there any cheap way out? Everywhere I go is between 700 - 1,000 to replace since you have to replace the pipe from the mid back. I’m NOT mechanically inclined so I can’t do the work myself. I saw some direct bolt ons from American muscle but not sure what would work. Kind of want to keep it close to stock. The car has ford racing gt500 exhaust on it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well either find a used takeoff H pipe, or buy an aftermarket catted midpipe of some sort. Just be aware an aftermarket one with high flow cats will be louder. Those are about your only options, also many shops won't do anything except replace factory with factory because it's technically illegal to tamper with emissions systems.

I kind of figured so...ford said they would do it for 975.00. Is it worth trying one of those cat cleaners you dump into the gas tank? Or are those no use?

Most likely that isn't going to do anything.
