Can anyone give me some insight before I finish tearing this block apart and sending it to the machine shop? My cousin gave me an engine out of a '93 crown vic (4.6 of course)...and I have '99 PI heads and intake...I want to re-build the short black back stock with fresh main and rod bearings, and piston rings with the cylinders honed and top it off with the '99 PI heads (I will do some minor porting) and a set of comp cams and springs (looking at 274'sXE)...This is to go into my '96 GT vert. Now, I read that somewhere between '93 and '96 ford changed the front cover bolt sizes, can anyone verify? I know the water pump has one bolt that was moved, but I'll just use a new water pump for a 93 vic. My main concern is what front cover to use and if the bolt pattern and size is the same. My goal for the engine is between 300 and 330 HP (flywheel). Thanks for any input.
