AOD delayed down shift

I have a 90 model efi 5.0 and AOD in my car. Lately it seems to have a delayed down shift when pulling up to a light. I lift off the throttle, apply the brakes and it doesn't seem to come out of overdrive until the rpms drop to about 650. It seems ot shift fine leaving a light with OD at about 50 -52 mph. I've checked the TV cable adjustment and it seems OK. I'm going to try to adjust the base idle and readjust the TV again. Any thoughts?

how old is the fluid? clean fluid an a new filter may help.

The fluid is almost a year old with maybe 1500 miles on it? I could try changing it. The car does sit most of the time and isnt driven from Oct to March..
