it wont idle and even on the highway driving at 55 mph all i have to do is put it in neutral and it will shut off, if i keep it in gear it will stay on. at stop lights i have to keep giving it gas or it will shut off. then sometimes it will drop rpms to around 800 then it picks back up and it will be fine for a while it basicaly has a mind of its own.
is this a sign of a bad iacv? it is a bone stock 2.3. i know this is a 5.0 forum but the quetion is in general. thanks

Rick, I'm not real conversant with how the 2.3 idle is set, but in general, I like to have my hot, no-load idle set without the IAC even plugged in. That way, even if the IAC takes a flying dump, the car idles ok as long as I keep the accessories off.

The fact that the rolling idle also sucks does suggest that the IAC might be an issue. The first thing to do is pull codes. You can also probably clean the IAC if you desire (the 4 banger crowd will know that engine's idiosyncrasies better than I).

Good luck.
