K&N Air Filter

I bought my car, 2000 GT 5SPD, and noticed that I have one. My question is, what does it do, the hp gains it has, and any other stuff regarding it. Thanks...

You get a few hp from it. Maybe 2 or 3. The best part about K&N's is you don't need to replace them. You just have to clean them every 10,000 miles or so.

I heard the removing the Air Silencer is a good idea? What do you guys think about that move?

I took mine out, i couldn't tell if it made a difference or not.

REmove the air silencer, there are mixed feelings about it, but it can 't hurt IMO

Also, if I were you, I'd go get a recharge kit (they have them at autozone) and I'd clean the K&N just as a precaution. But they do flow better than a paper filter, and never call for replacing

IMO, you'd also like a nice Steeda Tri-Ax or Pro 5.0 shifter, just feel better
